    Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for correcting a posture of a magnetometer sensor are provided to precisely calculate azimuth information by compensating for errors caused by the posture of the magnetometer sensor. CONSTITUTION: An azimuth calculating apparatus includes a two-axis magnetometer sensor(201) for detecting a magnetic field of an earth according to an azimuth and an inclinometer(202) for calculating a roll angle and a pitch angle of the two-axis magnetometer sensor(201). An A/D converter(203) is provided to convert sensor data into a digital value. A microprocessor(204) is provided to calculate azimuth information by using outputs of the two-axis magnetometer sensor(201) and the inclinometer(202). Data processed in the microprocessor(204) are transmitted through a serial interface(206). An LCD module(205) is provided to display azimuth information.
