Abstract: PURPOSE: An optical pickup device for high-density optical recording and playback is provided to increase the number of apertures while using an SIL(Solid Immersion Lens) in a plate side of an optical recording medium, so that a size of an optical spot is reduced. CONSTITUTION: An optical module(100) generates and emits light, and receives light emitted in an optical recording medium(200). An objective lens(160) for light collecting arranged in an optical path between the optical module and the optical recording medium, collects light emitted from the optical module to a signal recording surface(202). An SIL(180), arranged in an optical path between the objective lens for light collecting and the optical recording medium, has a first surface(181) formed in plane and a second surface formed in spheric, wherein the first surface is toward a plate(201) of the optical recording medium and the second surface is toward the optical module. The SIL collects beam from the objective lens for light collecting, and images the beam in the signal recording surface of the optical recording medium after passing the plate of the optical recording medium. And the SIL is made of materials having a refractive index identical a refractive index of the plate of the optical recording medium.
