Abstract: PURPOSE: A generator for a MEMS by using bubbles is provided to be used as power source for the bio-MEMS by generating with using low-temperature heat source without replacing the power source periodically. CONSTITUTION: A generator for a MEMS is composed of a liquid chamber having a lower wall and a side wall and storing liquid; a bubble generating unit generating bubbles in the liquid chamber; an elastic piezoelectric plate(20) placed near the upper part of the bubble generating unit in the liquid chamber, displaced according to contact of bubbles, and composed of a first free end, a second end and a piezoelectric material layer; and a couple of electrodes(22,23) electrically connected to the piezoelectric material layer.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for producing spherical ice particle is provided to reduce environmental contamination by using only water as a refrigerant, while allowing spherical ice particles to be promptly produced. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a water supply pump(48) connected to a water supply source and which supplies water to a vacuum chamber(74); the vacuum chamber having a water injection nozzle(80) connected to the water supply pump; boosters(54,58) connected into the vacuum chamber so as to discharge vapor from the vacuum chamber and compress the discharged vapor, thus allowing interior of the vacuum chamber to be maintained at a pressure lower than a predetermined level; a condenser(60) connected to boosters so as to condense the vapor compressed by boosters; and a vacuum pump(68) connected to the condenser so as to discharge non-condensible gas from the condenser. A method comprises the steps of reducing pressure of the vacuum chamber into a level lower than the first pressure level; supplying water from the water supply source to the vacuum chamber; producing spherical ice by spraying water from the water injection nozzle into the vacuum chamber; maintaining the pressure of the vacuum chamber into a level lower than a second pressure level by discharging vapor from the vacuum chamber and compressing the vapor in such a manner that the saturation temperature of the vapor is higher than the normal temperature; condensing the compressed vapor; and discharging the condensate water and non-condensible gas.
