    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for measuring concentration of polyol in urine and a marker for diagnosing breast cancer are provided to accurately measure concentration of polyol with hihg sensitivity and to diagnose breast cancer. CONSTITUTION: A marker for diagnosing breast cancer comprises a polyol. The polyol is adonitol, arabitol, xylitol, glucose, mannitol, dulcitol, sorbitol, or inositol. The inositol is myo-inositol. The breast cancer is diagnosed when the concentration of urine arabitol of polyol is 1.3-10 times more than that of a normal group. A method for measuring concentration of polyl in urine comprises: a step of treating mixture solution of anhydrous acetylic acid and pyridine to urine sample; and a step of measuring the concentration of polyol through GC-MS(gas chromatography-mass spectrometry).
