    Abstract: A diode pumped laser apparatus using an anisotropic laser crystal is provided to reconstitute an intensity distribution in a horizontal axis direction inside of the laser crystal when a pumping light source having an asymmetric diffraction characteristic is used, thereby having a high efficiency. In a diode pumped laser apparatus, a pump emitting source(14) generates a pump beam having the luminance and an asymmetric cross section whose measurement is small in a first direction(a fast direction) and is large in a second direction(a slow direction) perpendicular to the first direction. An aspheric lens(15) makes the pump beam parallel in the first direction. A polarization rotator(21) rotates the polarization of the pump beam with 90 degrees. A second cylinder type lens(17) makes the pump beam passing through the polarization rotator parallel in the second direction. A focusing lens(18) focuses the pump beam on an anisotropic laser crystal(11) having a first axis and a second axis which are perpendicular and have a different absorption degree according to the polarization of the pump beam. The laser crystal is pumped by using the pump beam.
