Abstract: PURPOSE: An asymmetric traffic switching system is provided to asynchronously transmit cells/packets while omitting a process of arranging the cells/packets by using a proper traffic classification method, and to omit a process of arranging the order of the cells, thereby effectively exchanging traffic having an asymmetric capacity with multicast traffic. CONSTITUTION: At least one load distributor(210) distributes loads of traffic received through a port having an asymmetric capacity to plural switching paths, and transmits the distributed traffic to a symmetric switching unit(100). The symmetric switching unit(100) receives the transmitted traffic through a symmetric input port, switches the traffic to a destination port, and sends the switched traffic through a symmetric output port. At least one traffic aggregator(220) receives the traffic to aggregate into predetermined traffic, and outputs the aggregated traffic through an asymmetric output port.
