    Abstract: PURPOSE: A position tracking apparatus and a method for a low power WPAN/WBAN device are provided to trace the position of a sensor node with low power. CONSTITUTION: A distance collection unit(110) collects the distance information of a plurality of anchor known nodes and each adjacent node to at least one sensor unknown node. A minimum distance calculation unit(120) respectively calculates a shortest path to the anchor node based on the distance information of the adjacent node. The minimum distance calculation unit select the sensor node having the shortest path from the anchor node and minimum distance as a parent node to manage them. A group separation unit(130) divides each node into a first group and a second group according whether their position is known or not. The controller selects a first sensor node nearest to a first group node to find the parent node.
