PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a durable film containing a coumarin compound having a specific structure, a durable color conversion filter, and a multi color light-emitting device. SOLUTION: The film contains a coumarin compound having a specific structure, and the color conversion layer contains the coumarin compound, and a matrix comprising a straight silicone polymer or a resin-modified silicone polymer. The color conversion layer absorbs light, having a specific wave length to emit light containing a wave length different from that of the absorbed light, and the color conversion filter includes a transparent substrate, a color conversion layer or a plurality of color conversion layers, having different wave length distributions respectively, and at least one of the color conversion layer contains the color conversion layers having the characteristics described. By having a complimentary color filter integrated with the color conversion filter and a protective layer, the multi-color light-emitting device is formed, by assembling the filters and an organic light-emitting body that emits light by applying electric field. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new compound having excellent thermal decomposition properties and optical properties suitable for an optical element useful for an optical recording material for an optical recording medium for a laser beam recording and to provide an optical recording material using the compound.SOLUTION: The merocyanine compound is represented by general formula (I), and the optical recording material uses the compound. In the formula, a ring A is a nitrogen-containing five-membered ring or six-membered ring; R1 is H or a 1-10C alkyl group, a 6-30C aryl group or a 7-30C arylalkyl group; R2 is a cyano group or a 1-10C alkyl group; and R3 is H, OH, a halogen atom, a nitro group, a cyano group, a 1-10C alkyl group, a 6-30 aryl group, a 7-30C arylalkyl group, a 2-30C heterocyclic group or an amino group.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording material which is suitable for formation of an optical recording layer in an optical recording medium for short wavelength recording light, and to provide a novel compound suitable for the optical recording material.SOLUTION: The optical recording material comprises at least one kind of a chalcone type compound expressed by formula (I) or a metal complex using the chalcone type compound as a ligand. In the formula, a ring A denotes a five-membered or a six-membered heterocyclic ring or an aromatic ring and a ring B denotes a five-membered or a six-membered heterocyclic ring or an aromatic ring or a metallocene structure. The heterocyclic ring and the aromatic ring may be condensed with or substituted with another ring and n denotes 0 or 1.
