Abstract: A media device including a least one sensor that generates a sensor signal based on at least one of a position, orientation, and movement of the media device. The media device also includes a processor that receives the sensor signal and controls one or more operations of the media device based at least in part on the sensor signal. The media device may include a database or data store having one or more known movement patterns where each movement pattern is associated with an operation of the media device. The processor compares the sensor signal with the one or more known movement patterns to determine the associated operation of the media device. The comparing function may include employing a pattern recognition algorithm or technique.

Abstract: In accordance with some embodiments, a computer-implemented method is performed at a portable multifunction device with a touch screen display and one or more accelerometers. The method includes displaying information on the touch screen display in a portrait view or a landscape view based on an analysis of data received from the one or more accelerometers. Abstract: A computer-implemented method for use in conjunction with a computing device with a touch screen display comprises: detecting one or more finger contacts with the touch screen display, applying one or more heuristics to the one or more finger contacts to determine a command for the device, and processing the command. Abstract: Deletion gestures for use on a portable multifunction device with a touch-sensitive display are disclosed.
