Abstract: A therapeutic lighting apparatus includes two white light sources each with a different color temperature and a controller. The controller operates the lighting apparatus in either a color temperature fusion mode or a color temperature flickering mode or both simultaneously such that the color temperature flickering mode can be used for treating a patient with Alzheimer's disease. The lighting apparatus can be enhanced with a green light source for supporting a green light mode for treating migraine headache. Similarly, the lighting apparatus can be enhanced with a red light source for supporting a red light mode for tissue repairing. Alternatively, the lighting apparatus can be enhanced with a near-infrared (IR) radiation source for supporting a near-IR mode for lowering the heartbeat, uplifting the mood, and improving the immunization system of a subject.

Abstract: A lighting apparatus comprises a controller and three lights sources each with a different color temperature. The controller turns on the second light source and the third light source alternately at a strobing frequency between 30 Hz and 65 Hz, resulting in a strobing light (out of the second light source and the third light source) with a combined color temperature approximating the color temperature of the first light source. Alternatively, the lighting apparatus includes a controller and two light sources. The first light source and the second light source operate at different frequencies, resulting in a superimposed light with an operating frequency equal to the difference of these two frequencies. Alternatively, the lighting apparatus turns off one of the two light sources periodically for a short period of time to induce the brain of a subject to better recognize the frequency of the superimposed light.

Abstract: A self-disinfecting photocatalyst sheet includes a substrate material and a photocatalyst layer with a primary photocatalyst and a secondary photocatalyst. The primary photocatalyst is a metal oxide photocatalyst, whereas the secondary photocatalyst is a metallic photocatalyst. The substrate material binds the photocatalyst layer by either connecting a metal ion of the primary photocatalyst and/or the secondary photocatalyst through two oxygen atoms of a carboxyl group (COO), or by forming hydrogen bonds between a carbonyl group and a surface hydroxyl group (OH−) of the primary photocatalyst. The self-disinfecting photocatalyst sheet is activatable by a visible light and can self-disinfect against bacteria and viruses.

Abstract: A self-disinfecting photocatalyst sheet includes a substrate material and a photocatalyst layer with a primary photocatalyst and a secondary photocatalyst. The primary photocatalyst is a metal oxide photocatalyst, whereas the secondary photocatalyst is a metallic photocatalyst. The primary photocatalyst forms a covalent bond with the substrate material. The self-disinfecting photocatalyst sheet is photocatalytic active to different bands of wavelength. Another self-disinfecting photocatalyst sheet includes a substrate material, a prime material layer and a photocatalyst layer with a primary photocatalyst and a secondary photocatalyst. The prime material layer is between the substrate and the photocatalyst layer. The primary photocatalyst forms a covalent bond with the prime material.

Abstract: A disinfection circadian lighting device includes a housing and two means of lighting. The first means of lighting is a general lighting means and it includes a first light source, a first lens, and a first driver. The second means of lighting is a germicidal lighting means and it includes a second light source, a second lens, and a second driver. The second light source is a far UVC light source with its spectral power distribution mainly in the wavelength range 200 nm to 230 nm. The first light source may comprise a third light source and a fourth light source, where third light source is a blue-depleted light source and the fourth light source is a blue-enriched light source. A circadian controller can mix the light output of the third and the fourth light sources according to a circadian schedule.

Abstract: A lighting device that comprises a housing, a first light source, a second light source, an air filter, an airway, and an air circulation mechanism for each airway. The first light source contributes to the light output of the device, whereas the second light source is responsible for germicidal irradiation and in some embodiments with the help of a photocatalyst coated air filter. The airway has an air inlet and an air outlet. The air circulation mechanism sucks an ambient air through the air inlet, forces the air through the air filter, and releases the air through the air outlet. The air filter traps airborne particles. The UV dosage emitted out of the lighting device does not exceed UV threshold limit value (TLV) dosage defined by American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH).

Abstract: An antiviral air-filtering lighting device includes an air-permeable lampshade, a visible light source, a driver, and an air circulation mechanism. The lampshade diffuses a visible light emitted from the visible light source and includes an air inlet port. The lampshade is coated with a visible-light activatable antiviral photocatalytic coating. The visible light source is disposed inside the lampshade to shine its light through the lampshade to activate the visible-light activatable antiviral photocatalytic coating on the lampshade. The air circulation mechanism sucks an ambient air from outside the lighting device, and forces the air through the lampshade. The lampshade traps airborne microbials on the surface having the visible-light activatable antiviral photocatalytic coating. A light emitted by the first visible light source activates a photocatalyst material in the visible-light activatable antiviral photocatalytic coating, and the airborne microbials trapped by the air filter are killed or deactivated by the activated photocatalyst material.

Abstract: An anti-bacterial lighting device includes a translucent housing, a first light source, a second light source, an air-inflow port, and an air circulation mechanism. The translucent housing is air-permeable and coated with an anti-bacterial photocatalyst on its surface. The first light source is a visible light source emitting a visible light with a spectral power distribution (SPD)>95% in a visible light wavelength range (>400 nm). The second light source is a far-UVC light source emitting a non-visible light with an SPD>90% in a 200 nm˜230 nm wavelength range. The lights of the first light source and the second light source shine through the translucent housing and activates the anti-bacterial photocatalyst on the housing. The air circulation mechanism sucks an ambient air into the housing through the air-inflow port and forces the air out through the air-permeable housing.

Abstract: A circadian lighting apparatus includes a housing, two light sources, and a control logic. The first light source has a higher color temperature (e.g. 5000K) and the second light source has a lower color temperature (e.g., 1900K). The control logic can clamp operation color temperature to a mixed high color temperature (e.g., 4000K) and a mixed low color temperature (e.g., 2700K), and operate the apparatus according to a circadian schedule such that the mixed high color temperature is used for a daytime circadian state and the mixed low color temperature is used for a nighttime circadian state, and the color temperature of the apparatus is bound by the mixed high color temperature and the mixed low color temperature. This apparatus enables a personalize-able circadian light where each user can set his/her own circadian color temperature range.

Abstract: An anti-bacterial photocatalytic apparatus includes one three dimensional object and one photocatalytic film. The three dimensional object is coated at least partially on the surface with the photocatalytic film. The thickness of the three dimension object underneath the photocatalytic film is at least 20 μm. The transparency of the photocatalytic film is at least 90%, and the thickness of the photocatalytic film is at least 300 nm. Moreover, the photocatalytic film is photocatalytic activated by ambient light with at least 95% of a spectral power distribution (SPD) in the visible light wavelength range greater than 400 nm. When such photocatalytic apparatus is disposed in an indoor environment with normal lighting, the apparatus is photocatalytic activated and can kill the bacteria and the viruses left by people through making contact with the apparatus.
