Abstract:
Apparatus and methods to improve compatibility between a primary wireless device including multiple subscriber identity modules (SIMs) and a cellular capable secondary wireless device are disclosed. The cellular capable secondary wireless device pairs with the primary wireless device, which provides a configurable option to allow mobile terminated connections and/or messages to be received at the cellular capable secondary wireless device for multiple SIMs when the cellular capable secondary wireless device is not within proximity of the primary wireless device and is being worn. The primary wireless device indicates conditional forwarding to a second wireless network associated with a second SIM and adjusts notification alerts to reduce time for forwarding when the cellular capable secondary wireless device is separated from the primary wireless device and in use.
Abstract:
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for improving efficiency in IMS registration and management in a wireless communication device, such as a UE. In some scenarios, the UE may, while implementing IMS services (e.g. for VoLTE) over a wireless communication link with a cellular network, determine that the wireless communication link is not performing at an acceptable level. In response, the UE may start a timer and buffer IMS SIP signaling messages while the timer is running. If the wireless communication link performance is restored to an acceptable level before expiration of the timer, the UE may transmit the buffered IMS SIP signaling messages. If the timer expires prior to restoration of the wireless communication link, the buffered messages may be cleared, and the UE may locally deregister from IMS registration and IMS PDN. In some scenarios, select IMS SIP signaling messages may be omitted or removed from the buffer.
Abstract:
Groupcast communications between devices of a group of devices, e.g. between vehicles in a platoon, may include a device in the group transmitting a groupcast message in a sidelink transmission to the other devices and receiving feedback information in sidelink transmissions from the other devices within the same channel occupancy time (CoT). The feedback information may be transmitted by the other devices in response to the groupcast message including an information request directed to the other devices. The group of devices may include a designated group leader which may manage one or more aspects of the communications of the other devices in the group. The designated group leader may be dynamically switched based at least on the received feedback information. The devices in the group may use beamforming for intra-group and inter-group sidelink communications for efficient spectrum usage.
Abstract:
An accessory wireless device partakes in a data session with a remote device. The data session may be a voice call or other service. To preserve the battery power of the accessory wireless device, the accessory wireless device opportunistically offloads medium-to-long range radio transmission and reception tasks to the companion wireless device while maintaining call continuity. The accessory wireless device and the companion wireless device communicate through a local connection. In one embodiment, the accessory wireless device pushes a wireless wide area network (WWAN) connection to the companion device by sharing selected security and network information with the companion wireless device. When the accessory device and/or the companion device determine that the local connection may not be sustainable, the accessory device pulls the WWAN connection of the companion device back to itself.
Abstract:
A method to be performed by a wireless station having a wireless transceiver configured to establish a connection to a network, a processor and a non-transitory computer readable storage medium. The method includes receiving information during a first reception segment of a discontinuous reception cycle, wherein the discontinuous reception cycle includes the first reception segment and a first idle segment, performing a first measurement that begins during the first reception segment and performing a second measurement, wherein the second measurement begins prior to an end of the first measurement.
Abstract:
In a wireless communication system, a user equipment device (UE) may undertake a circuit-switched fallback (CSFB) process by using or more secondary radio frequency (RF) receive chains to search for candidate circuit-switched (CS) cells, in parallel with using a primary RF receive chain to wait for an extended service request (ESR) response. The UE may send, using a first RF receive chain, an ESR message on a packet-switched (PS) network in response to receiving a CS voice call page on the PS network. The UE may also start an ESR timer upon sending the ESR message, and monitor, using the first RF receive chain, for receipt of an ESR response on the PS network. While monitoring for receipt of the ESR response, the UE may use a second RF receive chain to acquire an initial CS network, and detect whether the ESR timer expires before the ESR response is received.
Abstract:
A method for responding to a page message is provided. The method can include a wireless communication device receiving a page message on a first channel of a first network; suspending a connection to a second network in response to receiving the page message; transitioning to a second channel of the first network prior to responding to the page message; and sending a response message responsive to the page message on the second channel.
Abstract:
In a wireless communication system, a user equipment (UE) needing to undertake a CSFB process can use one or more secondary RF receive chains to search for candidate 2G/3G cells in parallel with using a primary RF receive chain to wait for an ESR response.
