Abstract: Vinyl chloride is (co)polymerised in aq. suspension, in presence of a free-radical initiator and a mixture of 0.001-0.02 pts. wt. (w.r.t. 100 pts. of monomer(s)) of a high molecular cellulose deriv. (e.g. oxypropylated cellulose ether) having a viscosity 50 cP with 0.0001-0.02 pts. wt. of an extremely high molecular cellulose deriv. having viscosity >1000 cP, as protective colloids,. Resulting polymer has fine granules with good plasticiser absorption and apparent density. There is no need to increase concn. of suspension stabilisers during reaction which may lead to the impairment of electrical props. of the polymer. Protective colloid mixture has good stability.
