    Abstract: The present invention relates to aqueous polymer latexes of film-forming copolymers obtainable by aqueous emulsion polymerisation of monomers M, which comprise at least 80% by weight, based on the monomers M, of - at least one non-ionic monomer M1, which is selected from C1-C20-alkyl esters of acrylic acid, C5-C20-cycloalkyl esters of acrylic acid, C1-C20-alkyl esters of methacrylic acid, C5-C20-cycloalkyl esters of methacrylic acid and monovinyl aromatic monomers; - one or more monoethylenically unsaturated monomers M2, which are selected from monoethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acids having 3 to 6 carbon atoms and monoethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids having 4 to 6 carbon atoms; and where the polymer latex contains an emulsifier combination comprising i. at least one first emulsifier (1), which is selected from salts, in particular from the alkali metal salts and the ammonium salts of sulfated ethoxylated C8-C20-alkanols having a degree of ethoxylation in the range from 5 to 20 and sulfated ethoxylated tristyrylphenols having a degree of ethoxylation in the range from 5 to 20, and ii. at least one second emulsifier (2), which is selected from the salts, in particular from the alkali metal salts and the ammonium salts of a sulfated ethoxylated C8-C20-alkanol having a degree of ethoxylation in the range from 21 to 50 and sulfated ethoxylated tristyrylphenols having a degree of ethoxylation in the range from 21 to 50. The present invention also relates to a process for producing such polymer latexes and to the use of these polymer latexes as binders in waterborne coating compositions which contain at least one inorganic tannin blocking compound and to the use of such coating compositions for coating tannin-containing substrates such as wood or woodbased materials.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a polymer dispersion which can be obtained by at least one two-stage emulsion polymerization, wherein 1) a polymer A is produced by free-radical polymerization of a first composition, comprising A) at least one monomer, and B) at least one anionic copolymerizable emulsifying agent, 2) the polymer A produced in 1) is mixed with a base, and 3) a polymer B is produced by radical polymerization of a second composition in the presence of the polymer A treated in 2), comprising A) at least one monomer, and B) at least one anionic copolymerizable emulsifying agent. The present invention also relates to a method for producing the polymer dispersion according to the invention, to coating agents in the form of an aqueous composition containing the polymer dispersion according to the invention, and to the use of the polymer dispersion according to the invention for coating materials or paints.

    Abstract: Procedimiento para la producción de una dispersión polimérica acuosa (DP) mediante polimerización en emulsión por radicales de (a) al menos un monómero α,β-etilénicamente insaturado (M) (b) así como dado el caso por lo menos un monómero adicional (M1) para dar un polímero (P) (c) dado el caso desodorización química posterior y (d) adición de al menos una resina alquídica soluble en agua con un peso molecular promedio en peso entre 5000 y 40.000 Da o de al menos una emulsión acuosa de resina alquídica o de poliuretano-resina alquídica, caracterizado porque la adición de la resina alquídica o de la emulsión de resina alquídica o de poliuretano-resina alquídica tiene lugar o bien a continuación de la polimerización de M y M1, con un tiempo de agitación posterior de 0-2 h o a continuación de la desodorización química con un tiempo de agitación posterior de 0-2 h, ascendiendo la temperatura durante la adición a de 60 a 99 °C.
