    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve durability against high speed remarkably by reinforcing at least an end of a belt layer more with a cord layer between the belt layer and a tread layer, and using the material made of the specified component including polyester ether and having the compound structure which consists of a core and a sheath as a cord member of the cord layer. CONSTITUTION:A tire has two belt layers 2, 3 of which cord arrangement are crossed at 10 - 40 deg. against the circumferential direction of the tire. In this case, one cord layer 5 is provided between the belt layer 2 near the tread face and a tread layer 1. The core component made of compound fiber having the compound structure, which consists of a core and a sheath, and to be used for reinforcing the cord layer 5 is practically made of the mixture component of polyester mainly composed of polyethylene terephthalate and polyester ether mainly composed of polyethylene - 1, 2 - diphenoxy ethane - p, p' - dicarboxylate. A mixture ratio of polyester mainly composed of polyethylene terephthalate among the core component is set at 30 - 90 weight %. Furthermore, a ratio of the compound fiber among the core component is set at 30 - 80 weight %.

Specific high-strength high-elasticity polyvinyl alcohol fibers are used for cords extracted from the belt layer. The dynamic elasticity E' of the specific fibers at 100 deg.C and 30Hz is set to satisfy the following equa tion: 0.3X10 dyn/cm dyn/cm , and the insoluble component when the fibers are dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxide at 120 deg.C is set to 5 wt.% or above.

CONSTITUTION:Organic fiber cords are manufactured by intertwining organic fiber base yearns having a core-sheath structure consisting of a core part and a sheath part, which covers a circumference of the core part. A pneumatic tire is formed by providing at least one layer of carcass ply layer, in which the said organic fiber cords are placed parallel with each other, is arranged at a cord angle of 40 deg. to 90 deg. with respect to the equatorial plane of the tire. The said core part is formed with polyurethane naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylate having a repeating unit as shown in the expression-I, while the sheath part is formed with polyamide. In addition, the core part should be 30 to 90weight% the entire base yarns.

Further, the relation between the vertical height Hp(mm) above t//he intersection P of the bead base and the rim side to the turn-up end portion outward in the radial direction of a tire and the vertical height Hr(mm) above the intersection P to the rim end is set in such a manner as to satisfy the expression: Hp>=Hr+10(mm).
