    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for reducing the volatile organic compound (VOC, VDA 278 October 2011) content of a polyolefin composition, the polyolefin composition including a polypropylene homopolymer, a polypropylene copolymer, a polyethylene homopolymer, and/or a polyethylene copolymer, the process comprising the steps of a) subjecting the polyolefin composition having a VOC (VOC, VDA 278 October 2011) content, which is contained in an aeration vessel, to an aeration gas flow, and maintaining said aeration gas flow for an aeration time of 15 hours or less the aeration gas having a minimum temperature of at least 20° C. measured at an inlet of the aeration gas of the aeration vessel, and a maximum temperature of 99° C. measured at an inlet for aeration gas of the aeration vessel; the aeration vessel having—at least one inlet for aeration gas,—at least one outlet for aeration gas,—an inlet for the polyolefin composition having a VOC content,—an outlet for an aerated polyolefin composition at the bottom of the aeration vessel; wherein the polyolefin composition contains 20 to 55 pieces/g (pellet size 3-5 mm) as measured according to the specification; and wherein the polyolefin composition is present in the aeration vessel as a packed bed; and b) withdrawing the aerated polyolefin composition from the aeration vessel having a VOC content (VOC, VDA 278 October 2011) of not greater than 600 μg/g.

    Abstract: A process for producing a cap or closure comprising obtaining a polypropylene composition by sequential polymerization comprising the steps: A) polymerizing in a first reactor, preferably a slurry reactor, in the presence of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst monomers comprising propylene and optionally one or more comonomers selected from ethylene and C4-C10 alpha-olefins, to obtain a first propylene polymer fraction having a comonomer content in the range of 0.0 to 1.8 wt %, and a MFR2 in the range of from 12.0 to 40.0 g/10 min, as measured according to ISO 1133 at 230° C. under a load of 2.16 kg; B) polymerizing in a second reactor, preferably a first gas-phase reactor, monomers comprising propylene and one or more comonomers selected from ethylene and C4-C10 alpha-olefins, in the presence of the first propylene polymer fraction, to obtain a second propylene polymer fraction, wherein the polypropylene composition comprising said first and second propylene polymer fractions has an MFR2 in the range of from 12.0 to 60.0 g/10 min, as measured according to ISO 1133 at 230° C. under a load of 2.16 kg, has a comonomer content in the range of from 2.2 to 5.0 wt % and wherein the ratio of the comonomer content of component A) to the comonomer content of the polypropylene composition is 0.35 or less, C) melting, extruding and moulding the polypropylene composition in the presence of at least one nucleating agent to prepare a cap or closure; and D) exposing the cap or closure obtained in step (C) to a cooling rate of 50 K/s or more.

    Abstract: A polymer composition including: A) 70-97 wt.-% of a polymer blend, including a1) 50-95 wt.-% polypropylene; a2) 5-50 wt.-% polyethylene; B) 3-30 wt.-% of a copolymer of propylene and 1-hexene, including b1) 30-70 wt.-% of a first random copolymer of propylene and 1-hexene; and b2) 30-70 wt.-% of a second random copolymer of propylene and 1-hexene having a higher 1-hexene content than the first random propylene copolymer b1); the weight proportions of components al) and a2) are 100 wt.-%; the weight proportions of components b1) and b2) are 100 wt.-%; component A) has a MFR2 of from 1.0-50.0 g/10 min; component B) has a 1-hexene content in the range of 2.0-8.0 wt.-% based on the overall weight of component B); and the polymer composition is free from plastomers being an elastomeric copolymer of ethylene and 1-octene having a density of from 0.860-0.930 g/cm3.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a polypropylene based composition comprising: (A) from 40.0 to 85.0 wt % of a heterophasic propylene copolymer having a content of xylene cold soluble (XCS) fraction in the range of 15 wt % to 35 wt %, based on the total weight of the heterophasic propylene copolymer; (B) from 5.0 to 15.0 wt % of a random copolymer of propylene with comonomer units selected from ethylene and alpha-olefins having from 4 to 12 carbon atoms which has been polymerized in the presence of a single-site catalyst system and has a melting temperature Tm as measured in differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) of less than 140° C.; (C) from 5.0 to 25.0 wt % of an ethylene copolymer with alpha-olefin comonomer units having from 4 to 12 carbon atoms with a density of from 850 kg/m3 to 900 kg/m3; and (D) from 5.0 to 25.0 wt % of an inorganic filler, wherein the amounts of components (A), (B), (C), and (D) are all based on the total weight amount of the polypropylene based composition, said polypropylene based composition having a melt flow rate (MFR2) as measured at 230° C. and 2.16 kg load in accordance with ISO 1133 in the range of 2.0 g/10 min to 20.0 g/10 min, an article comprising said polypropylene based composition and the use of said copolymer (B) for reducing the paint adhesion failure of an article comprising said polypropylene based composition.
