Abstract:
Volatile impregnated substrates, such as wicks and mats, that can be used in a dispensing device that uses a heat source or otherwise uses active means to promote the release of the volatile material from the substrate are disclosed. The preferred substrate has a structure including sand particles adhered together by a binder to form a network of pores and passages. The binder is selected from thermoset polymeric materials and mixtures thereof. A volatile material is disposed in the pores before the substrate is installed in the dispensing device. The impregnated substrate is positioned in the dispensing device on or near the heat source of the dispensing device. The heat source is activated thereby elevating the temperature of the substrate such that volatile material is released from the pores. In one embodiment, the sand particles comprise silica sand and the binder is a cured novolac resin.

Abstract:
A foot pressure and shear visualization system employs a deformed mesh technique to visualize horizontal shear and color mapping to visualize vertical pressure on a skin surface, e.g. the plantar surface of a foot. Additional cues, such as scaled, directed arrows may be used to enhance the visualization. This system includes a set of sensor hardware interface modules to acquire foot visualization data sets, a data base manager that allows host applications to store and retrieve the data files in a data base, a graphical user interface that performs the display and control aspect, as well as maintains the data files, and a visualization and analysis engine that performs all data set rendering and analysis. The graphical user interface controls a main user interface window, while the visualization and analysis engine controls a rendering window for the combined shear and pressure visualization.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to improvements in the ability to transduce a retroviral vector borne nucleic acid into cells expressing ABC transporters by use of a substrate and/or inhibitor of said transporter. Compositions and kits relating to the practice of the methods are also disclosed. Methods to determine the level of increased transduction provided by a substrate and/or inhibitor compound are also provided.
Abstract:
A python for maintaining the drinking liquid flowing in lines therein at a predetermined temperature has a drinking liquid delivery line adapted to deliver drinking liquid, coolant tubes adapted to carry coolant and insulator tubing arranged in that order concentrically outwardly. The central drinking liquid delivery line consists of a central drinking liquid tube surrounded by secondary drinking liquid tubes. The central drinking liquid delivery line is in thermal contact with and surrounded by the coolant tubes. The coolant tubes are surrounded by insulator tubing in such a way as to restrict the free movement of both the drinking liquid delivery line and coolant tubes. The drinking liquid is thereby maintained at a predetermined temperature by the temperature of the coolant and the effect of the above-mentioned concentric arrangement of drinking liquid delivery line, coolant tubes and insulator tubing.
Abstract:
Systems, devices, and methods for storing and synchronizing data using Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP), Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) or any other protocol that provides for authentication, presence and messaging. One such method is performed in a digital media device, such as a set top. Device and user-configured settings associated with a digital media device may be saved to a network. The settings may be synchronized with other devices of a user, or used to configure a newly provisioned replacement digital media device. The settings may include pointers to network resources where content is stored such that content need not be transferred from an old or failed digital media device to the newly provisioned digital media device.
Abstract:
A VoIP switch includes a first input Ethernet port configured to receive electrical power from a first power sourcing equipment, and a second input Ethernet port configured to receive electrical power from a second power sourcing equipment. The VoIP switch may be configured such that the first input Ethernet port is powered by the first power sourcing equipment concurrently with the second input Ethernet port being powered by the second power sourcing equipment.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a formulation and method for treating paper so that paper in landfills produces less methane than untreated paper. The method includes adding one or more nitrate salts to paper during the process of making paper, or after the paper is made. One effect of adding the nitrate salts is promoting the growth of certain bacteria which do not produce methane as they consume paper products.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for collecting events and providing messages using Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP), Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) or any other protocol that provides for authentication, presence and messaging. One such method is performed in a digital media device, such as a set top. A digital media device may collect events associated with usage and behavior and publish the information to a node. The node may communicate data to an aggregator and a harvester to reformat the data to make it available to analytics systems. In addition, the digital media device may subscribe to a node to receive notifications of messages having geographic or other relevance based on an identifier associated with the digital media device.
