    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the development of cracks in the bottom of circumferential grooves located on the outside in the cross direction of the tread. SOLUTION: The present tire provides a carcass 2 where the edge is turned around respective bead cores 1, 1, a belt 4 that is located on the periphery of the crown of the carcass 2, tread 5 that is located on the periphery of the belt 4, and a plurality of circumferential grooves 6, 7 that are in a series around the circumference of the tire and that are formed in the treaded traction surface 5a. In this case, the tire is fitted to a standard rim 8, and when filled to an air pressure 50% its maximum, the curvature radius r2 of the carcass line c is decreased so that it is less than the curvature radius r1 , r3 of the other part, at the part on the inside around the tire in the radial direction of the circumferential groove 7, which is located on the outermost side in the cross direction of the tread.

CONSTITUTION: A pneumatic tire has a directional pattern formed by arranging a plurality of main grooves 5a, 5b diffusely extending toward both ends 4a, 4b of a tread from a contact-to-ground region 3 of the tread at the intervals along a tire circumference 6 in a tire front surface 2 of a rotating tire 1, and the main grooves 5a, 5b have a scraping out part for expanding a groove bottom 8 in the cross section of the groove in at least one groove wall of groove walls 7a, 7b.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent any uneven wear occurring at a land part near the shoulder edge on the external side of tire fitting by forming a pair of peripheral grooves which extend in the peripheral direction so as to divide the land part into two from the main groove of a tire road surface to the land part on the shoulder edge side, and providing a stepoff area between the pair of peripheral grooves. CONSTITUTION:A pair of peripheral grooves 10, 11 which extends continuously in the peripheral direction so as to divide the land part 8 into two are formed at the land part 8 between the shoulder edge 5 on the external side of tire fitting and the point P apart from the shoulder edge by 1/3 of the width of a road surface, externally from the main groove 7 of the road surface 6. Moreover, the stepoff area 12 which in independent of the land part 8 and is slant to the external side of tire fitting is formed between the peripheral grooves, and the peripheral groove 10 positioned externally in the axial direction is made narrow. This makes the external edge of the stepoff area 12 come in slide contact with the road surface to make the stepoff area 12 function as a sacrificial portion of uneven wear and makes the side surfaces 13, 14 of external peripheral grooves 10 come in contact with each other for the lateral force forward the internal side of tire fitting to restrain the bending deformation of the land part.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent partial abrasion of a heavy duty pneumatic radial tire for a bus and the like, by shifting the largest diameter circumferential line position of a tread to the outside when the tire is mounted while specifying the ratio of the inside and outside diameters of the shoulder and providing an asymmetric tread profile. CONSTITUTION:The circumferential line position of the largest outer diameter d0 of a tread 1 is shifted by L to the outside when the tire is mounted with respect to the equator of the tire. The distance L is 0.05-0.3 times as long as the width D of the tread. The ratio between the outer diameter d1 of the outside shoulder section and the outer diameter d2 of the inside shoulder section when the tire is mounted is set in the range of 0.98-1.00 so as to realize an asymmetric tread profile. With such arrangement, partial abrasion of the shoulder section, river wear and partial abrasion of tire can be prevented.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance the wear resistance and eccentric wear resistance of a tire, by shifting at least one of belt layers toward the mounting outside of a tire on which the radius of curvature is larger, with respect to the equator plane of the tire so that the distribution of rigidity is not uniform over the tread section of the tire. CONSTITUTION:The radii of curvature in the contour 2 of a tread section which exhibits in the cross-section of a tire including the rotary axis of the latter, are set to be asymmetrical with respect to the equator plane 3 of the tire. Further, the difference between the radii of curvature is set to be 0.75 to 1.50 time as large as the maximum width of the tread in the direction of the rotational axis of the tire. Further, this tire is mounted on a wheel so that the part having a larger radius of curvature is laid on the outside of the wheel. At least one of belt layers 4 in the tread section 1 is laid, being shifted, with respect to the equator plane of the tire, toward the side on which the radius of curvature is larger. For example, the outermost belt layer 4B is shifted toward the mounting outside A of the wheel, on which the radius of the curvature is larger, with respect to the equator of the tire. With this arrangement, the distribution of rigidity over the tire tread section is made to be not uniform to cancel out conicity force which occurs in a shape having radii of curvatures that are laterally asymmetrical.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the eccentric wear resistance, the wear resistant life and the noise resistant performance by overlapping adjacent S-shaped or Z- shaped blocks to each other in the circumferential direction with a specified range of overlapping quantity. SOLUTION: The movement of individual blocks can be reduced by overlapping adjacent S-shaped or Z-shaped blocks to each other in the circumferential direction. The effect of the eccentric wear resistance can be remarkably improved by arranging a plurality of rows of the S-shaped or Z-shaped blocks. The overlapping quantity O between adjacent blocks in the circumferential direction is 15-45%, preferably 30-40% of the circumferential length of the block. The overlapping quantity is more excellent to reduce the movement of the individual blocks, but when the overlapping quantity exceeds 45%, end parts of the individual blocks are acute in shape, and the movement of the block end part is increased on the contrary.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To release stress applied to a groove bottom part and to prevent the generation of crack by arranging a narrow groove having a specified groove width in a tread shoulder part within a specified range outside or inside of a tread operating surface end in the cross direction, and providing a bent part on the way in the depth direction. SOLUTION: A tread shoulder part 6 is provided with each one narrow groove 7 having width at 0.5-3 mm and extended straight or zigzag in the tread circumferential direction at a position inside of the tread operating surface end E in the tread cross direction. A bent part 8 directed outside or inside in the tread cross direction is provided on the way of the depth direction of each narrow groove 7. This narrow groove 7 is arranged within a range (d) at 0.15 times of the tread operating surface end width TW inside of the operating surface end E in the tread cross direction and within a range of 0.03 times the tread operating surface width TW outside of the operating surface end E in the tread cross direction. With this structure, the stress applied to the groove bottom part of the narrow groove 7 is sufficiently released, and generation of crack is thereby prevented.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent uneven wear by providing an uneven wear sacrificing part having a level difference with respect to the sectional contour line of a tread being held between land parts, a level difference region independent of the land parts and slide-contacted with a road surface within a tread grounding region. SOLUTION: In a heavy load pneumatic tire having a main groove 1 and land parts 2 on a tread of a tire, a level difference is formed with respect to the sectional contour line of the tread being held between the land parts 2 and a level difference region 3 independent of the land parts 2 is provided. Its surface is made to be an uneven wear sacrificing part slide-contacted with a road surface within a tread grounding region for supporting a load applied to the tire. In this case, preferably, for the uneven wear sacrificing part, a ratio between the grounding length of the level difference region 3 along the outer periphery of the tread under a load of up to 200% and a grounding length in the shorter grounding area of the land part 2 adjacent to the level difference region 3 is set to 0.95 or lower. Also, the total sum of the axial direction width of the level difference region 3 is set to 5 to 25% of a tread grounding width and each axial direction width (w) of the level difference region 3 is set to 1/2 of each axial direction width of the land part 2.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent partial wear by providing a recessed groove which is continuous along the periphery of a shoulder part on the tire-mounting outer side with respect to a vehicle, and opened to the side face of a tire, and making the distance from the deepest part of the groove in the direction of the tread- width to the tire-equatorial face smaller than the distance from the grounding end of a tread to the equatorial plane. CONSTITUTION:A recessed groove 5 which is continuous along the periphery of a shoulder part on the tire-mounting outer side with respect to a vehicle, and opened to the side face of a tire is formed, and the distance (w) from the deepest part of the groove 5 in the direction of the tread-width to the equatorial plane is formed to be smaller than the distance (a) from the grounding end of a tread to the equatorial face. Thus, the bending rigidity of the periphery of the tread shoulder part is reduced to restrain the ground pressure extremely increasing at the tread end part, and simultaneously to restrict breaking-off of edge causing partial wear, and thereby resistance to partial wear of the shoulder part can be efficiently improved.
