Abstract: The cassette for a printer accommodates the ribbon (2) on two spools (3.4). The ribbon passes over a series of guide members, and at one point leaves the cassette to pass over th the printing head (6). There is a cutout in the wall of the cassette at this point. There are two holes (8,9) in the cassette wall, into which projections on the printer fit, to hold the cassette firmly in place. The two spools for the ribbon are held on spindles which allow them to turn freely. There are projections (12) in the edge of the cassette remote from the printer mechanism to assist in holding the cassette firmly in place.

Abstract: A thermal transfer printer includes a thermal head having plural heat generating elements, a thermal head driver connected to a character generator for controlling the thermal head by supplying drive currents to the heat generating elements of the thermal head in response to print information, and control circuit for controlling the drive currents from the thermal head driver in response to the ambient temperature. Therefore, the thermal transfer printer is capable of constantly providing an optimum transfer density regardless of the ambient temperature, thus ensuring a satisfactory print quality.

Abstract: The printing hammers are made of elastic material and have a readily magnetisable insert. A permanent magnet pulls the hammers into a non-printing position against the mechanical energy stored in the elastic material. Associated electromagnetic units produce a magnetic field opposed to that produced by the permanent magnet. One of those units is provided on the one end of each elastic strip (4) whereby each pair of elastic elements for producing an electric current supply to the electromagnetic unit is arranged parallel to the axis of the type drum. The printer is designed to the quiet in operation and inexpensive to produce.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cyclic recording position errors caused by a cyclic operation of a mechanism of a moving means for a recording head. SOLUTION: Cyclic shifts from an ideal position in a first way and a second way of the reciprocation of a carriage moving a recording head are measured beforehand and stored in an NV-RAM 54. Recorded cyclic shifts are read out at the reciprocatory recording. The recording is carried out by a recording head 2 to positions corrected with a cyclic correction amount corresponding to the shift amount, whereby a recording position shift of the reciprocation is reduced.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow dirt such as paper dust deposited onto an image read section to be simply cleaned by providing a transparent cover for a read head through which an image read light is transmitted to an optical path for reading an image between an original and the read head. SOLUTION: An image read head 4S being an image read section provided to a carriage 4b is reciprocated together with a recording head 4a by a carriage motor 4k in the case of reading/recording an image. Then a transparent cover 42S being a protection member through which an image read light is transmitted is provided removably between a read head 41S being a read means and a read original so as to surround the read head 41S. Thus, dirt such as paper dust deposited onto the image read head 4S is simply cleaned and a device releasing externally the image read head 4S is not required, the miniaturization, performance and reliability of the device are improved.
