Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a gradation printing with proper density independently of a recording medium and a gradation method by a method wherein a density of multivalued image data is corrected according to the comparison of real density data outputted from a density reading means with logical density data. CONSTITUTION:A carriage 21 is moved to a home position HP by driving a motor 24, thereafter being moved rightward with the recording of test patterns on recording paper P and traveled to the home position HP. After that, a read sensor 10a reads the densities of the recorded test patterns concurrently with the travel of the carriage 21, and the carriage 21 is moved to the home position HP. An arithmetic part 14 calculates data for converting a logical density so that the logical density of the test patterns is proportional to the read real density. The obtained correction table data is stored in a density conversion part 5, and the processing is brought to an end. Therefore, a density of input multivalued image data can be corrected so that a gradation density to be printed can be always proportional to the logical density. Thus, independently of the material of a recording medium and a gradation processing method, a gradation printing with proper density can be always obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To correct the deviation of a driven unit without moving the mounting position of a position detection means, by correcting the deviation of the stopping position of the driven unit through an electric inputting means. CONSTITUTION:The reference position of a carriage 2 is selected generally at a home position. The reference position of the carriage 2 is detected by a method wherein the light path of a light sensor 21, arranged at a predetermined position, is screened by a screening plate 22, fixed to the carriage 2. The fine adjustment of the reference position may be effected simply by a method wherein the carriage 2 is moved by an electric setting means, such as a DIP switch 101 or the like, into the direction B or the direction F by the number of step, set in the DIP switch 101.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To detect a reference position for a carriage accurately and speedily, by performing the first detection of the reference position while moving the carriage at a high velocity, returning the carriage by a predetermined distance by reversely rotating a pulse motor upon the detection, and then performing the second detection of the reference position while moving the carriage at a low velocity. CONSTITUTION:While moving a carriage 5 at a relatively high velocity in a forward direction from a printing region toward a reference position, the first detection of the reference position HP is performed. Upon the detection, a pulse motor is reversely rotated to move the carriage 5 a little in the opposite direction, thereby returning the carriage 5 to a position a several-step amount to the printing region side from the reference position. Then, the second detection of the reference position is performed while moving the carriage 5 again in the forward direction at a relatively low velocity. Based on the second detection, the reference position for the carriage 5 is determined. Since the reference position is roughly detected while moving the carriage at the higher velocity and is then determinatively detected while moving the carriage at the lower velocity over a short distance in the vicinity of the reference position, the possibility of a detection error due to the vibrations of the carriage 5 in a high-velocity movement can be eliminated, and the reference position can be accurately detected in a stable region in which the carriage is fully stopped.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make the easy adjustment of a carriage, a recording head or the like possible, by a method wherein a cap is opened and a carriage is moved to a specific position regardless of the presence of recording medium through a specific key operation. CONSTITUTION:A recording head 5 is loaded on a moving carriage 4. The carriage 4 is connected to a carriage motor 10 via a transmission means 11 such as a belt or the like and reciprocally driven in the arrow A direction by operating the carriage motor. A cap 7 is connected to a cap motor 12 via a gear 13 and driven forward or backward in the arrow C direction by operating the cap motor. When a specific key 15 is turned on, the cap 7 is driven backward (left open) by operating the cap motor 12 and successively the carriage 4 is operated to be moved to a fixed position by operating the carriage motor 10 by a fixed quantity. Thereby, the maintenance and inspection of the head, the carriage, etc. can be easily executed.

CONSTITUTION:For example, in the case of serial printing in an ink jet or optical-type printing head, a plurality of printing heads 5 are mounted on the carriage 4 on the same circumference of a circle with the same position P1 on a paper 1 as a center so that the heads 5 can print on the same position P1 on the paper 1 while the carriage 4 is located at the same position. During a scanning movement of the carriage in the width direction of the paper, color printing can be constantly conducted on the same position on the paper by the heads 5, and accordingly, when performing color printing by mixing two or more colors, it is unnecessary to drive the heads 5 while adjusting time differences or to adjust the order of driving, and printing driving can be controlled easily and accurately.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relieve the curvature of a recording medium to easily take out the recording medium and to prevent damage to the recording medium by dividing a stacking means for stacking recording medium after recording, into a plurality of means, and mounting at least one of loading means rotatably with respect to the other loading means and a device body. SOLUTION: Ink is applied to a rolled recording medium 4 from a recording head 3 mounted on a carriage part 2 of an image forming device 1. A sheet 31 discharged from a discharge port 13 is moved while successively drawing each locus 31a-31d, and loaded on one of trays 17 of a loading means. On this occasion, in order to take out the sheet 31 with a rear end thereof suspended from an upper opening of the tray 17, a lock lever 20 is operated for unlocking, and the other tray 18 is anticlockwise rotated on a supporting shaft 19 into a horizontal state. Whereby the rear end of the suspended sheet 31 is raised to the horizontal state, and the sheet 31 can be easily and smoothly taken out without folding or damaging the sheet 31.
