Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable high-quality recording at a high speed, by folding back one of electrodes in the same plane and making at least one of the aforementioned electrodes as a common electrode. CONSTITUTION:Individual lead electrodes 51, 52...5n and common lead electrodes 61, 62...6m holding several number units of resistors in common are respectively connected to the heat generating resistors 21, 22...2n formed on a substrate 1. Individual lead electrodes 51, 52...5n have matrix wirings 7 incorporated therein on the way of the leading-out thereof and led out to (l) terminals 81, 82...8l fewer than (n) from said wirings 7. The common lead electrodes 61, 62...6m are led out along the back surface of the substrate 1. When an electric pulse signal is inputted to the heat generating resistors 21, 22...2n after recording ink is introduced into long grooves 31, 32...3n from an ink supply system, a thermal pulse is generated according to the input of the electric pulse signal and the ink instantaneously generates a state change such as evaporation and acting force is applied to said ink itself. As a result, the ink is emitted from an orifice in small droplets 10 and flies at a speed corresponding to the intensity of the aforementioned acting force.
