    Abstract: An electrooptic deflector composed of a plate (P) made of a material with a refractive index which can be modified by the application of an electrical field, whereinto a collimated optical beam (LE) can be injected in direction parallel to the electrodes (E) deposited on a plate face. Said electrodes (E) are parallel to one another, equally-spaced and separately connected to voltage sources apt to increase the refractive index in the material passing from an electrode to the next. The emerging optical beam (LU) is deflected in the direction wherein the refractive index increases.

    Abstract: A static interferometric ellipsometer has a source which generates a coherent light beam having two monochromatic radiations at slightly different frequencies, a first photodetector which generates a first beat between the two radiations to be used as a reference, a second photodetector which generates a second beat between the two radiations, after they have been polarized in perpendicular planes and separated to follow separate paths so that only one of them is reflected by the sample under test, and a measuring and computing system which determines the optical properties of the sample from the amplitude of the second beat and the relative phase between the two beats.

    Abstract: The diameter of an optical fibre which is being drawn, and possible fluctuations of such diameter, are measured by making the fibre pass between two parallel plates of a capacitor and detecting its capacitance variations due to changes of dielectric constant caused by the passage of the fibre or by diameter variations of the fibre. The magnitude of the diameter or of diameter variations is derived from the capacitance variations.
