Abstract: Body temperature of a toilet user may be non-intrusively obtained on a regular basis using one or more non-contact optical temperature sensors having a field-of-view between a surface of a toilet bowl and a user of the toilet while the user is releasing body excrement into the toilet. An output of the non-contact optical temperature sensor is used to determine a body temperature of the user based on at least one of: a temperature of the body excrement while the body excrement is in the field-of-view of the non-contact optical temperature sensor, a temperature of a perineal area of the user while using the toilet, a temperature of the body excrement while the body excrement is detached from the body and falling toward the surface of the toilet bowl, or a combination thereof.

Abstract: We disclose a medical toilet that includes a system for interpreting measurements collected by medical devices on or in the medical toilet and for customizing the measurements to each user. The system may use information about the user to selecting which measurements to perform, select or modify parameters that apply to the measurement techniques, and select follow-up measurements that may be performed based on the first set of measurements. These decisions may be made according to the user's physical, demographic, or medical status information that may be entered into a controller connected to the medical toilet. The controller may apply a set of rules to the measurements and thereby determine a value which provides an estimate of the validity of the measurements and which may be used to make adjustments to subsequent measurements.

Abstract: We disclose a device for measuring volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in exhaled breath. The device includes a cover which may be a mask. The cover fits over a user's face as the user breathes. The cover includes one or more removably attached filters which collect VOCs. Some embodiments include reference filters which measure VOCs in the air the user inhales. Reference filter measurements may be subtracted from total VOCs collected from exhaled breath to exclude VOCs that did not originate in the user's body. The filters may be removed from the device and sent for analysis by a gas analyzer which may be a gas chromatograph. Methods of using the device are also disclosed. The device may be used to assess a user's health status, identify or quantify compounds to which a user may have been exposed, or to aid in medical diagnosis.

Abstract: A synthetic aperture photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor is disclosed. A group or matrix of contiguous PPG sensors located on a toilet seat are conditionally combined based on sensor measurements. Conditional combinations may be based on timing data and signal-to-noise ratio data of each of the PPG measurements. Measurements associated with the conditional combinations are then used to determine a cardiac function of a toilet user.

Abstract: An excreta-sampling toilet is disclosed which includes a bowl, a processing apparatus, and a chiller. The bowl separates excreta into solid excreta and liquid excreta. The processing apparatus then processes the solid excreta into a solid excreta sample, including metering it by weight or volume and storing it in containers. The chiller lowers the temperature of the sample, which is stored to await analysis. A metered liquid excreta sample is also stored and chilled in separate storage containers.

Abstract: A health condition determination method is disclosed. Analyte samples may be obtained from a medical toilet in individual sessions on a daily basis and analyzed over weeks, months and years. Data collected from these samples is analyzed according to a predetermined target variance. The data is filtered and recursively analyzed inputting additional sample data until the refined measured variance is within the target variance. The determined health condition is then communicated to a health professional.

Abstract: A method of obtaining health data of a toilet user using one or more sensors is disclosed. One or more sensors are used by a toilet user while the toilet user is using the toilet to take health measurement readings of the user. Dynamic heart stress readings may be obtained and monitored over weeks, months and years. Rolling averages of heart function and heart health may be determined and deviations from the rolling averages may trigger notifications. Other health related measurements and functions such as temperature, respirations, heart rate, electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, and stethoscope sounds are also recorded and stored for trending and data analysis.

Abstract: A dryer for use with a bidet is disclosed. In one embodiment, a moveable dryer wand emits an air curtain as the dryer wand moves across the bidet bowl beneath the user after cleansing. We further disclose a dryer which produces a second air current which moves air in a different direction than that emitted by the dryer wand and further controls the movement of excess water remaining on a user after cleansing. Abstract: We disclose a medical toilet that includes at least one stethoscope probe in the toilet lid. The stethoscope probes may be mounted on a compliant extension which extends the stethoscope probes toward a user seated on the toilet. The medical toilet may include a device which adjusts the height of the stethoscope probes to adjust for different size users and to collect measurements from different parts of a user. The medical toilet may include a device which records the sounds collected by the stethoscope and may also include a controller that proposes a diagnosis based on the sounds collected by the stethoscope. The medical toilet may also transmit recordings and other information to an external machine.
