Abstract:
Vulcanizable blends containing a halogenated copolymer of a C4-C7 isomonoolefin and para-alkylstyrene mixed with one or more olefinically unsaturated elastomeric polymers are disclosed. Cure is preferably effected using zinc stearate as a curative at levels below about 3.0 phr which gives rise to vulcanizates having selective interpolymer addition of benzylic halogen present in the halogenated copolymer to the double bond of the unsaturated polymer with no significant self curing of the halogenated polymer taking place.
Abstract:
This invention is generally directed toward a supported catalyst system useful for polymerizing olefins. The method for supporting the catalyst of the invention includes coating the supported catalyst with an inert hydrocarbon component. This provides for a supported metallocene catalyst which when utilized in a polymerization process substantially reduces reactor fouling and sheeting in a gas or slurry polymerization process.
Abstract:
A low melt viscosity, hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive composition having enhanced tack properties is provided. The composition is based on an S-I-S block copolymer having polystyrene and polyisoprene block segments blended with a petroleum tackifier resin which is a blend of a C5-C9 aromatic modified aliphatic petroleum resin and a hydrogenated, alicyclic monomer containing hydrocarbon resin. The composition optionally also includes a polystyrene-polyisoprene diblock copolymer and a processing oil. The composition may be readily applied as solvent-free melt to various substrates using coating die technology because of its low melt viscosity at coating temperatures.
Abstract:
A two-cycle oil is disclosed consisting of a polybutene polymer, solvent and mineral oil which passes the JASO engine test for gasoline fueled two-cycle engines.
Abstract:
A synthetic ester composition which exhibits thermal and oxidative stability, lower friction coefficient and lower wear, wherein the ester composition comprises the reaction product of a branched or linear alcohol having the general formula R(OH)n, wherein R is an aliphatic or cyclo-aliphatic group having from about 2 to 20 carbon atoms and n is at least 2; and at least one branched mono-carboxylic acid which has a carbon number in the range between about C5 to C13; wherein the synthetic ester composition has between about 5-35 % unconverted hydroxyl groups, based on the total amount of hydroxyl groups in the branched or linear alcohol.
Abstract:
Additives are blended with a stream of liquid, for example of diesel fuel, by injecting at least two different additive compositions into the stream, and adjusting the rates of injection and the relative proportions of the injected additive compositions. This enables the consumption of additives to be minimized while enabling desired fuel characteristics to be maintained despite variations in the characteristics of the untreated liquid. The rates of injection may be adjusted by an automatic controller (32) in response to signals from sensors (28, 30) representing characteristics of the liquid before and after treatment.
Abstract:
A fuel oil composition comprising a major proportion of a liquid hydrocarbon middle distillate fuel oil having a sulphur content of not greater than 0.2 % by weight of the fuel oil and a minor proportion of a hydroxy amine which improves the lubricity of the fuel oil. The inclusion of the hydroxy amine in the fuel also markedly reduces the foaming tendency of the fuel oil.
Abstract:
The lubricity of low sulphur fuels is enhanced by incorporation of a lubricity enhancing additive in combination with an ethylene-unsaturated ester copolymer.
