Abstract: The device has an acoustic-optic material e.g. tellurium dioxide crystal, including one of prisms (P1, P2) and allowing acousto-optic interaction between an optical beam and an acoustic beam. An acoustic wave of the acoustic beam generates, in the prisms, an integrated deflective Bragg cell which diffracts, selectively in amplitude, wavelengths of the optical beam according to characteristics of the acoustic beam in order to generate non-diffracted optical waves and diffracted optical waves. The non-diffracted waves are programmed based on the optical wavelength by the interaction.

The transducer generates in the medium (1) a modulated acoustic wave along a specific direction. Within the medium an input optical wave with unknown polarisation is coupled with the device. A programming circuit provides amplitude-phase-frequency modulation of the acoustic wave. The device provides a direct wave and two perpendicular diffracted waves of H,V polarisation, each bearing a modulation based on the input optical wave modulation and the acoustic wave modulation.
