Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a system includes an antenna disposed on a pole and a beam control unit disposed on the pole and operably coupled to the antenna. The beam control unit includes one or more sensors configured to detect one or more parameters related to tilting or bending of the pole. In addition, the beam control unit is configured to determine a misalignment of an antenna boresight as compared to an initial antenna boresight direction and to re-align the antenna boresight to the initial antenna boresight direction.
Abstract:
An engine communication system for aircraft engines having a nacelle with two cowlings extending annularly about the aircraft engine and defining a radially outward surface thereof, and at least one sensor positioned radially inward from the nacelle. The system includes a cowling gap positioned between the two cowlings when coupled together, and an engine control device communicatively coupled to the sensor and configured to at least one of receive engine data from the sensor and receive instruction data from a transmitter device positioned radially outward from the cowling gap. The system also includes a linearly polarized antenna communicatively coupled to the engine control device and positioned radially inward from the cowling gap and extending radially outward toward the cowling gap. The antenna is configured to at least one of receive and transmit the engine data and the instruction data through the cowling gap.
Abstract:
A street lighting fixture and street lamp used in street lighting containing an accelerometer that is used to detect and characterize acceleration events on a street lighting fixture. The accelerometer readings may be combined with GPS technology to determine a relocation of the street lighting fixture.
Abstract:
A method and system for the control and signaling of traffic signal lights by emergency vehicles in the vicinity. Emergency vehicles can be detected by traffic signal lights allowing the emergency vehicle to have a prioritized, rapid, unimpeded, and safe emergency vehicle transit.
Abstract:
According to some embodiments, information associated with collisions occurring as packets are exchanged through a wireless network may be measured. At least one media access control parameter may then be automatically and dynamically adjusted to achieve a throughput requirement, at a relatively low latency, while reducing collisions in the wireless network.
Abstract:
A system for identifying a fault in a light source is presented. The system includes at least one luminaire that includes the light source configured to emit light. Also, the at least one luminaire includes a monitoring device disposed proximate to the light source. The monitoring device includes a sensing unit configured to measure an amount of light emitted by the light source, and a squawk unit configured to generate a squawk signal based on the amount of light emitted from the light source, where the squawk signal is indicative of the fault in the light source. Further, the system includes a diagnostic unit communicatively coupled to the at least one luminaire and configured to determine the fault in the light source based on the squawk signal, and transmit a termination signal to the squawk unit to decouple an electrical power supply from the light source.
Abstract:
A system to detect a position of a pipe with respect to a BOP includes a casing disposed around an outer surface of a section of the pipe. The system further includes sensing devices that are disposed on the casing and arranged to form a plurality of arrays and configured to generate position signals. The arrays are disposed circumferentially around the casing and spaced from one another along the length of the casing. The system includes a processing unit configured to compute distance between the pipe and each sensing device. The processing unit generates a first alert when the distance between the pipe and at least one sensing device is different from a reference distance. The processing unit generates a second alert when the distance between the pipe and each sensing device of at least one array of sensing devices is different from the reference distance.
Abstract:
A communication system includes an omnidirectional antenna, a beam antenna and a controller. The omnidirectional antenna receives a wideband primary signal and the beam antenna is oriented towards a jammer to receive a jamming signal. The controller subtracts a processed jamming signal from a processed wideband primary signal to produce a jamming cancelled signal.

Abstract:
A system and method for monitoring a condition of a marine riser including at least one subsea sensing and acoustic platform mechanically coupled to a riser joint of the marine riser. The at least one platform includes one or more sensors mechanically coupled to the riser joint and including plug-and-play sensor interface technology. The platform further includes a microprocessor configured to receive and analyze sensor data from the one or more sensors and provide pre-processed data representative of a determination of a condition of the riser joint. A memory module is provided including one or more software modules executable by the microprocessor and configured to provide data storage. The platform further includes an acoustic modem configured to receive the pre-processed data, communicate the condition to a topside acoustic transceiver in real-time and provide remote command configuration in response to the condition. An included power module provides power to the platform components.
