Abstract:
A phthalocyanine dye (100, 200) with extended conjugation includes one or both of a phthalocyanine component (120, 220) and a naphthalocyanine component (120, 220) and at least one water soluble substituent on an aryl group (124, 212, 222) of the phthalocyanine dye (100, 200). The extended conjugation of the phthalocyanine dye includes at least one benzene moiety (122, 222) of the component (120, 220) being one of (a) joined to an aryl group (212) either indirectly using an alkylene linkage (214) or directly, (b) joined to a benzene moiety (122) of another of the components (120, 220) to form an oligomer of the components, and (c) a combination of (a) and (b). The extended conjugation shifts absorption of the phthalocyanine dye (100, 200) to greater than (800) nm.
Abstract:
Compositions, systems, and methods of printing an ink-jet image are provided. The composition can be an ink-jet ink, comprising a liquid vehicle, a pigmented colorant, and a wax emulsion. The wax emulsion can be present at from about 0.1 wt% to about 20 wt%, preferably 0.1 wt% to 10 wt%, and more preferably from 0.1 wt% to 5 wt% solid content of the ink-jet ink composition. Additionally, upon printing the ink-jet ink on a media substrate compared to printing a comparative ink-jet ink composition on a media substrate, the ink-jet ink composition exhibits improved alkaline highlighter smear fastness compared to the comparative ink-jet ink composition.

The present disclosure is drawn to a dispersed magenta pigment blend, including a first pigment including Pigment Violet 19 and Pigment Red 122, or Pigment Red 282; and a second pigment including Pigment Red 150. The weight ratio of the first pigment to the second pigment can be from 50:50 to 80:20 by pigment solids content.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is drawn to methods and compositions directed at durable ink-jet inks. As such, an ink-jet ink can have a liquid vehicle, a colorant dispersed or dissolved in the liquid vehicle, a high Tg polymer having a Tg of at least 45.degree. C. dispersed in the liquid vehicle, and a near-infrared absorbing dye in the liquid vehicle. The ink can be formulated such that when printed on a substrate and irradiated with a near-infrared energy source, the near-infrared absorbing dye generates enough heat to uniformly melt the high Tg polymer, thereby enhancing the durability of ink-jet ink printed on the substrate.

The methods and compositions of the present invention provide an ink-jet ink having a colorant, an aqueous vehicle, and water stable and water soluble phthalocyanine and/or naphthalocyanine dye chromophores.
