A printing system (100, 200) has a substrate (130), and first (105) and second colored inks (110). The first colored ink (105) has particles of a first pigment, and the particles have a first net zeta potential. The second colored ink (110) has particles of a second pigment and a polarity-reversing amount of a surfactant. The particles of the second pigment have a second net zeta potential opposite in polarity to the first net zeta potential. The first (105) and second colored inks (110) are configured to be printed together over a common surface (150) of said substrate (130) to form a composite color.

An ink includes a jettable vehicle including a surfactant, and a color component dispersed in the jettable vehicle. According to one exemplary embodiment, the jettable vehicle exhibits a froth half life of less than 100 minutes.

An ink composition includes a colorant, a co-solvent, and an acid chosen from oleic acid, linoleic acid, undecanoic acid, dodecanoic acid, tridecanoic acid, and combinations thereof. The ink composition further includes lithium and water. An anti-evaporative layer forms, during uncapped non-use, at an interface between air and the ink composition in an orifice of a nozzle, thereby reducing evaporation of the water from the ink composition.

An ink composition for inkjet printing is disclosed herein. The ink composition includes a self-dispersed carbon black pigment with alkali metal counter ions, polyurethane, and an aqueous carrier. The aqueous carrier includes water, at least one water-soluble organic solvent, and at least one surfactant. In one embodiment, the aqueous carrier further includes an additive having a polar head group and a C 8 -C 18 hydrocarbon tail.
