Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent casting defect caused by thermal decomposition of a pattern, in a simple process. SOLUTION: In a lost foam pattern casting method by embedding the pattern made of synthetic resin foaming body into molding sand and executing the casting, a gap is generated between the pattern and a mold and the pattern is not taken out, and the casting is executed. Desirably, the generation of the gap is executed by adding and mixing solvent having A±1.5 solubility parameter (wherein, A is the solubility parameter of the synthetic resin foaming body) into the molding sand.

SOLUTION: Disclosed is a member for producing castings which is prepared by forming a base paper for a paper-jointing tube into a tubular shape and includes an organic fiber, an inorganic fiber, and a binder. The base paper for a paper-jointing tube is preferably formed into a tubular shape through winding. The contents of the organic fiber, the inorganic fiber and the binder are preferably 10 to 70 parts by weight, 1 to 80 parts by weight and 10 to 85 parts by weight, respectively. The organic fiber is preferably a pulp fiber.
