    Abstract: A method for arranging distributed sub-channels in a multicarrier transmission system is provided to improve transmission diversity efficiency by using two sub-carriers or symbols as a single basic unit. Two neighboring carriers, which are adjacent to each other on a frequency axis, are grouped into a single basic unit, and the basic units are distributed on a channel in a multicarrier transmission system. The channel is arranged, such that the basic units are adjacent each other on the frequency axis, while the basic units are apart from each other by a distance greater than one symbol interval on a time axis. Alternatively, two symbol intervals, which are adjacent to each other on the time axis, are grouped to form the single basic unit.

    Abstract: A cell searching method in an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) cellular system, a frame transmitting method, and a frame transmitter are provided to reduce a cell searching time in a mobile terminal by simplifying a cell searching device. A forward link frame has duration of 10ms and includes 20 sub-frames(110). Each of the sub-frames has a duration of 0.5ms and includes 7 OFDM symbols(120). A primary synchronous channel OFDM symbol(100-A) and a secondary synchronous channel OFDM symbol(101-A) are included in every ten sub-frames. Two first and second synchronous channel OFDM symbols are included in one frame. A repetition period(130) of the synchronous channel symbols is equal to a sum of lengths of ten sub-frames. When first and second synchronous channels are coupled with each other according to a TDM(Time Division Multiplexing) scheme, the first and second synchronous channels are arranged to be adjacent to each other, such that a channel estimation value of the first synchronous channel is used, while the second synchronous channel is coherently demodulated.
