Abstract:
A method of wear detection of a coated belt or rope includes measuring an initial electrical resistance of one or more cords, strands or wires of the coated belt or rope. The initial electrical resistance is calibrated by repeating the measuring of initial electrical resistance and populating a database with the measured initial electrical resistance values. A true initial resistance is determined from the population of initial electrical resistances and subsequent measured values of electrical resistance of the one or more cords, strands or wires of the coated belt or rope.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to housing assembly (40) for a safety actuation device, the assembly including a mounting plate (42), a first channel wall (48) and a second channel wall (52) extending substantially perpendicular from the mounting plate (42). The first channel wall (48) includes a first channel wall interior surface (50), and the second channel wall (52) includes a second channel wall interior surface (54). The first channel wall (48) is positioned substantially parallel to the second channel wall (52) to form a channel (56) therebetween. At least one guide device (58) is affixed to the first channel wall interior surface (50) and the second channel wall interior surface (54).
Abstract:
An exemplary elevator drive includes a DC bus. At least some power components in a power section are electrically referenced to the DC bus. At least some control components in a control section including a drive controller and associated inputs are electrically referenced to the DC bus. This eliminates any requirement for isolating the components referenced to the DC bus from each other.
Abstract:
An exemplary elevator door frame includes a sill member and a header member. A plurality of jamb members are generally perpendicular to the sill member and the header member. A plurality of guide rail brackets are supported on at least one of the sill member, the header member or one of the jamb members. The guide rail brackets are configured to receive a portion of a guide rail.
Abstract:
An intelligent surface system is provided for deployment in a space. The intelligent surface system includes a personnel movement device (PMD) configured to move an individual between first and second locations, sensors deployed to sense characteristics of the individual and a controller configured to determine a condition of the individual based on the characteristics and control an operation of the PMD in accordance with the determined condition of the individual.
Abstract:
A drive and motor system and method for a six phase machine with negligible common-mode voltage is provided. The six-phase machine includes six phase windings divided into at least two windings groups configured to generate a zero common-mode pulse width modulation. The drive and motor system and method can also include at least one direct current source and a six phase inverter switching between positive and negative power of the at least one direct current source.
Abstract:
A three-level converter includes a first converter leg having first switches connected across a positive DC node and a negative DC node, a second converter leg having second switches connected across the positive DC node and the negative DC node, and a third converter leg having third switches connected across the positive DC node the negative DC node. The converter includes a battery connected between the positive DC node and the negative DC node, and center-connected to a ground node having a ground potential. Each of the first, second, and third converter legs is connected to the ground node.
Abstract:
A braking system resetting mechanism for a hoisted structure includes a guide rail (14) and a brake member (10). Also included is a brake member actuation mechanism (12) operatively coupled to the brake member and configured to magnetically engage the guide rail to actuate the brake member from a non-braking position to a braking position. Further included is an outer structure having a slot (64) configured to guide the brake member actuation mechanism, wherein the slot includes a first angled region and a second angled region that intersect at an outer location. Also included is a spring loaded lever (202) operatively coupled to the outer structure and configured to engage the brake member actuation mechanism during a resetting operation, wherein the spring loaded lever biases the brake member actuation mechanism toward the outer location of the slot of the outer structure to disengage the brake member actuation mechanism from the guide rail.
Abstract:
A ropeless elevator system (80) is disclosed. The ropeless elevator system (80) includes a plurality of hoistways (22, 26, 72) in which a plurality of elevator cars (24) circulate to a plurality of floors. Each hoistway (22, 26, 72) is assigned to a single direction of travel for the elevator cars (24). The single direction of travel is either upward or downward. A first quantity of upward hoistways (86) is unequal to a second quantity of downward hoistways (88), and a speed of each of the plurality of elevator cars (24) in the upward hoistways (86) is greater than a speed of each of the plurality of elevator cars in the downward hoistways (88).
