    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel that has high-definition and high-luminance display performance and is low in power consumption.SOLUTION: A plasma display panel comprises: a front plate that has display electrode pairs, a dielectric layer, and a protective layer; and a rear plate that is arranged opposite the front plate with a discharge space formed therebetween. The protective layer includes, at least, a first metal oxide and a second metal oxide. The first metal oxide is magnesium oxide, and the second metal oxide is any one of calcium oxide, strontium oxide and barium oxide. The second metal oxide has a higher concentration on a side of the protective layer near the discharge space than in the middle of the protective layer. In a region facing the discharge space, a gas absorbent is provided that includes at least zeolite.
