Abstract: Un procedimiento para la información de mensajería basado en el posicionamiento en un sistema de determinación asistida de posición inalámbrica, comprendiendo el procedimiento: la obtención (702) de información de estimación de hora aproximada, de información de estimación de posición aproximada y de información de calendario del GPS, Sistema de Posicionamiento Global; la comprobación (706) de un estado de una primera efeméride para un satélite de posicionamiento; la determinación de si dicho estado de dicha primera efeméride es menor que un primer umbral temporal; la determinación (708) de si dicho satélite de posicionamiento está por encima de un horizonte visible de un dispositivo inalámbrico si dicho estado no es menor que dicho primer umbral temporal; la configuración (712) de una máscara para solicitar una segunda efeméride para dicho satélite de posicionamiento a una entidad de determinación de petición, EDP, si dicho satélite de posicionamiento está por encima de dicho horizonte visible de dicho dispositivo inalámbrico y dicho estado no es menor que dicho primer umbral temporal; la transmisión de una solicitud que tiene dicha máscara para dicha segunda efeméride para dicho satélite de posicionamiento a dicha EDP, si dicho satélite de posicionamiento está por encima de dicho horizonte visible de dicho dispositivo inalámbrico y dicho estado no es menor que dicho primer umbral temporal; la recepción de dicha segunda efeméride solicitada para dicho satélite de posicionamiento de dicha EDP, si dicho satélite de posicionamiento está por encima de dicho horizonte visible de dicho dispositivo inalámbrico y dicho estado no es menor que dicho primer umbral temporal; la localización de una señal de posicionamiento satelital de dicho satélite de posicionamiento basándose en dicha segunda efeméride para dicho satélite de posicionamiento, si dicho satélite de posicionamiento está por encima del horizonte visible de dicho dispositivo inalámbrico y dicho estado no es menor que dicho primer umbral temporal; y la determinación de dicha posición geográfica de dicho dispositivo inalámbrico basándose en dicha señal localizada de posicionamiento satelital de dicho satélite de posicionamiento, si dicho satélite de posicionamiento está por encima de dicho horizonte visible de dicho dispositivo inalámbrico y dicho estado no es menor que dicho primer umbral temporal.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for determining a position of a subscriber station in a wireless communications system. The subscriber station receives an overhead message from the wireless communications system and obtains a parameter value. A data structure stored in memory of the subscriber station is then accessed and a seed position is set to a stored position from an entry of the data structure associated with a value matching the parameter value obtained from the received overhead message. The position of the subscriber station is then determined from a set of signals from a satellite position determination system based on the set seed position.

Abstract: Techniques to detect whether or not a remote terminal is under the coverage of a repeater within a wireless communication network, which may be based on (1) a list of base stations expected to be received while under the repeater's coverage, (2) the characterized environment of the repeater, and/or (3) the propagation delays for a transmission received at the remote terminal. Additional ambiguity resulting from being under a repeater's coverage may also be accounted for and/or compensated by (1) discarding time measurements from repeated base stations, (2) adjusting the processing for position estimation to account for the additional ambiguity due to the repeater, (3) computing a series of position estimates based on multiple transmissions received from the same originating base station and selecting the best estimate, and/or (4) computing a series of position estimates based on multiple transmissions from multiple originating base stations and selecting the best estimate.

Abstract: A turbo code interleaver (100) using linear congruential sequences may be employed as a two-dimensional interleaver (16) in a turbo coder (10) that also includes first and second constituent encoders (12, 14). The interleaver (16) and the first encoder (12) are each configured to receive input bits. The first encoder (12) produces output symbols (22, 24) therefrom. The interleaver (16) receives the input bits (20) sequentially by row. A linear congruential sequence recursion algorithm within the interleaver (16) serves to pseudo-randomly rearrange, or shuffle, the bits within each row of the interleaver (16). The bits (26) are then output from the interleaver sequentially by column. The second encoder (14) is configured to receive the interleaved bits from the interleaver. The second encoder (14) produces output symbols (28) therefrom.; The two streams of output symbols (22, 24) are multiplexed together, with appropriate puncturing. If desired, the linear congruential recursion sequence can be generated in reverse. Also if desired, a bit reversal technique can be used in the interleaver (16) to rearrange, or shuffle, the rows of the interleaver (16).
