Abstract: Se proveen tecnicas para la senalizacion eficiente para una pluralidad de estaciones moviles. En una modalidad, cada pluralidad de flujos de simbolo se codifican con una pluralidad de secuencias de cobertura, los flujos de simbolo cubiertos se combinan para formar una senal Multiplexada por Division de Codigo (CDM), y la senal CDM se cubre ademas por otra secuencia de cobertura para la multiplexion por division de codigo con una o mas senales adicionales para trasmitirlas a una estacion remota. En otra modalidad, una pluralidad de senales CDM se forma desde los flujos de simbolo cubiertos, y la pluralidad de senales CDM se Multiplexan por Division de Tiempo (TDM) previo a la cobertura adicional. En otras modalidades, el descubrimiento y desmultiplexion se lleva a cabo para recuperar uno o mas flujos de simbolo. Tambien se presentan otros aspectos. Estos aspectos cuentan con el beneficio de proveer una utilizacion eficiente de la capacidad del enlace inverso, acomodando varios requerimientos tales como el retardo rotacional bajo, el caudal de trafico alto o la discrepancia de la calidad de servicio, y la reduccion del encabezado del enlace inverso y del enlace de avance para proveer estos beneficios, de esta manera se evita la interferencia excesiva y capacidad incrementada.

Abstract: The present invention relates to wireless voice and data communication systems. More particularly, the present invention relates to novel and improved methods and apparatus for transmitting data traffic on a communication channel. One such method comprises the steps of packaging a data payload into a plurality of subpackets; transmitting a first subpacket to a remote station; if the channel conditions are optimal, transmitting a remaining portion of the plurality of subpackets to the remote station; and if the channel conditions are not optimal within a predetermined time duration, then transmitting a remaining portion of the plurality of subpackets during unfavorable channel conditions. The apparatus may comprise means for packaging a data payload into a plurality of subpackets; means for transmitting a plurality of subpackets to a remote station; means for deciding, after the means for transmitting a plurality of subpackets has transmitted a first subpacket, whether: if the channel conditions are optimal, to transmit a remaining portion of the plurality of subpackets to the remote station; and if the channel conditions are not optimal within a predetermined time duration, then to transmit a remaining portion of the plurality of subpackets during unfavorable channel conditions.
