    Abstract: A user equipment (UE) receives a first synchronization signal (SS) block including a first codeword and a second SS block including a second codeword. Each codeword is based at least in part on a linear encoding of a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) payload. The PBCH payloads include different timing indicators. The SS blocks are received at different times separated by a time increment. The UE determines, based at least in part on the time increment, one or more hypotheses of combined decoding metrics for the first codeword and the second codeword; decodes the first codeword based on each of at least one hypothesis in the one or more hypotheses. The at least one hypothesis includes a correct hypothesis; the UE determines the first codeword based at least in part on an error detection procedure such as CRC verification performed when decoding the first codeword based at least in part on the correct hypothesis.

    Abstract: When beamforming (e.g., via a millimeter wave system (mmW)) is used for wireless communication, a base station may transmit beams that are directed to certain directions. Due to the directional nature of the beams in the mmW system, an approach to determine a beam that provides a desirable gain is studied. The apparatus may be a user equipment (UE). The apparatus receives, from a base station, a plurality of signals through a plurality of beams of the base station, each of the plurality of beams corresponding to a respective antenna port of a plurality of antenna ports of the base station. The apparatus receives from the base station a number of beams whose information should be fed back to the base station. The apparatus performs channel estimation for each beam of the plurality of beams from the plurality of antenna ports based on the plurality of signals.

    Abstract: DM-RS symbols may be inserted in the beginning of a subframe, or in two parts of the subframe. In one aspect, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus for dynamically conveying DM-RS information are provided. The apparatus may be a base station. The apparatus may determine the number of DM-RS symbols and/or the locations within a subframe for transmission of the DM-RS symbols. The apparatus may transmit the number of the DM-RS symbols and/or the locations within the subframe for transmission of the DM-RS symbols to a UE. In another aspect, a UE may receive the number of DM-RS symbols and/or the locations within a subframe for transmission of the DM-RS symbols from a base station. The UE may decode the DM-RS symbols from the subframe based on the number of the DM-RS symbols and/or the locations within a subframe for transmission of the DM-RS symbols.

A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) may include receiving a beam training sequence transmitted by a network access device on a plurality of transmit beams, identifying, based at least in part on the received beam training sequence, one or more sets of multiple beams that are compatible with at least one configuration for routing signals between antenna subarrays of the UE and transceiver units (TXRUs) of the UE, and transmitting, to the network access device, an indication of the identified one or more sets of multiple beams. A method for wireless communication at the network device may include transmitting the beam training sequence, receiving the indication, and selecting, based at least in part on the received indication, a set of multiple beams of the one or more sets of multiple beams to use to communicate with the UEs.
