    Abstract: A base station (BS) may transmit, and a user equipment (UE) may receive, a physical broadcast channel, such as a narrowband physical broadcast channel (NB-PBCH). In an interference-limited scenario with synchronous cells in a network, repetitions of a symbol being transmitted for a first physical broadcast channel of a first cell may collide with repetitions of a symbol being transmitted for a second physical broadcast channel of a second cell. This may result in the UE being unable to recover symbols of a physical broadcast channel. In some aspects, the BS may transmit, and the UE may receive, a physical broadcast channel including bits processed using a first processing stage, such as using first scrambling sequences, and a second processing stage, such as using second scrambling sequences, to compensate for the interference, thereby ensuring that the UE can recover the symbols of the physical broadcast channel.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) and a base station may establish narrowband communications. The base station may configure positioning reference signal (PRS) resources based at least in part on wideband or narrowband transmissions, and a UE may receive the PRS transmissions over one or more narrowband regions. The UE, may determine PRS resources and receive portions of wideband PRS transmissions that are transmitted in one or more narrowband regions of the system bandwidth. The base station may configure PRS resources separately for narrowband devices, such as according to a bandwidth of the narrowband devices or with a single PRS tone per symbol compared to two PRS tones per symbol that may be used for wideband PRS transmissions. The base station may perform positioning measurements for a UE based at least in part on timing of uplink transmissions from the UE.

For example, in a first aspect, an apparatus receives a downlink transmission and transmits a single tone ACK on an ACK channel using time-spreading. In another aspect, an apparatus determines whether an ACK has been received from a UE within a threshold amount of time, and when an ACK has not been received from the UE for at least the threshold amount of time, transmitting an indication to the UE to transmit regarding the ACK.

A base station may transmit a grant indicating resource elements (REs) of an uplink shared channel allocated to a user equipment (UE) for an uplink transmission. The UE may process the grant and split the granted REs between different types of uplink control information (UCI) and uplink data based on a reference payload size. The UE may generate an uplink transmission based on the splitting of the REs, and may transmit the uplink transmission in the REs of the uplink shared channel indicated in the grant. The base station may monitor the REs of the uplink shared channel for the uplink transmission in accordance with the splitting of the plurality of REs.
