Abstract:
Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) receives, from a base station (BS), an indication of a random access (RA) channel (RACH) preamble. The RACH preamble is a member of a first set of RACH preambles reserved for positioning purposes, the first set of RACH preambles is different from a second set of RACH preambles reserved for communication purposes, and the first and second sets of RACH preambles are associated with the BS. The UE detects, while in a radio resource control (RRC) idle or RRC inactive state, a positioning event. The UE transmits, to the BS, the RACH preamble. The UE receives, from the BS, a RA response for positioning purposes that is different from a RA response for communication purposes, the RA response for positioning purposes including a random access preamble identifier that is mapped to the RACH preamble.
Abstract:
A mobile device supports positioning with positioning reference signals (PRS) on multiple beam by dividing the PRS processing into two separate modes, an acquisition mode and a tracking mode. In acquisition mode, the mobile device performs a fast scan of all of the beams from a base station transmitting PRS using less than the full set of resources for the PRS, i.e., less than the full bandwidth and/or less than the full number of repetitions of the PRS. The mobile device may select the best beams to use for positioning, e.g., based on signal strength metric. In tracking mode, the mobile device tracks the PRS from only the selected beams using the full set of resources for the PRS. The mobile device may return to acquisition mode after a predetermined number of positioning occasions or if the selected beams are no longer valid due to movement or change in conditions.
Abstract:
A user equipment uses positioning reference signals (PRS) and non-PRS signals for position measurements. The non-PRS signals may be downlink and sidelink signals wherein the non-PRS are downlink or sidelink signals that are transmitted for purposes unrelated to positioning. Positioning assistance data is provided to the UE that associates the non-PRS signals with PRS-IDs. The association of the non-PRS signals to the PRS-IDs may be provided by a location server or serving base station. After performing positioning measurements using non-PRS signals, the UE reports measurement information using the PRS-IDs to identify the non-PRS signals used to generate the positioning measurements.
Abstract:
Examples described herein relate to supplementing wireless local area network (WLAN) connection of a wireless having multiple Subscriber Identity Modules (SIMs) in which at least one of the SIMs is associated with a Designated Data Service (DDS) subscription. A method includes connecting the wireless communication device with a wireless local area network (WLAN), receiving a request for transferring data, determining whether a WLAN link rate of the wireless communication device is less than a link rate threshold, transferring the data over the WLAN in response to determining that the WLAN link rate is not less than the link rate threshold, and transferring a first portion of the data over the WLAN and a second portion of the data via the DDS subscription in response to determining that the WLAN link rate is less than the link rate threshold.
Abstract:
Examples described herein relate to managing communications on a first subscription and a second subscription of a multi-Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) wireless communication device via a Radio Frequency (RF) resource, including, but not limited to, tuning the RF resource away from the second subscription to the first subscription, detecting a network-set activation state of a secondary cell associated with the first subscription, and adjusting the activation state of the secondary cell based on the network-set activation state.
Abstract:
A method for performing a cell search that includes: identifying a first frequency used by a first base station (BS) on which a mobile communication device is camped on a first subscription; receiving one or more messages from the first BS on the first frequency; identifying a second frequency used by a second BS that is an inter-frequency neighbor of the first BS based at least in part on the one or more messages; and determining to exclude from the cell search on a second subscription at least one of the first frequency and the second frequency.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that supports an assistance indicator, such as a UAI message, that includes position assistance information. In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes generating, by a user equipment (UE), an assistance indicator including position assistance information. The method further includes transmitting the assistance indicator to a network entity. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support sidelink control information (SCI). In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes receiving first SCI, the first SCI including a plurality of fields, and decoding at least one field of the plurality of fields based on a first higher layer parameter to determine sidelink-position reference signal (SL-PRS) information. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract:
Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) receives, from a location server, a positioning reference signal (PRS) configuration for a downlink-and-uplink-based positioning session between the UE and the location server, waits, based on a determination that a sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration for the downlink-and-uplink-based positioning session has not been received from a serving base station of the UE, for reception of the SRS configuration from the serving base station until expiration of a timer, and determines, based on the expiration of the timer, whether the SRS configuration was received.
