    Abstract: The present invention includes an apparatus for generating an inorganic polymer electret in a colloidal state, the inorganic electret in a colloidal state itself, and applications for the inorganic electret in a colloidal state. The invention includes a method for generation of a colloidal silica particle which is dipolar in that it is positively charged in the nucleus and negatively charged on the outer surface leaving a net negative charge to the particle. The apparatus includes the ability to control particle size, uniformity, consistency, hydration, and three dimensional structure which is desirable for various applications.

    Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for treating human pain by application of an electrical stimulus with the proper current density to the body surface and the response modulated by a magnetic field to allow manipulation of the firing rate of peripheral neurons of the A-fiber and C-fiber mechanoreceptor such that chronic and acute pain may be consistently controlled without discomfort from the stimulation. The treatment device electrode (10) includes an adhesive means (11) for holding the electrodes (12) and a magnetic flux generator (13) in contact with the human body. The electrode (12) preferably comprises four electrodes, two of positive polarity and two of negative polarity defining opposite diagonal vertices of a quadrilateral shape.

    Abstract: A self-contained cooling device for use in a container such as a food container to cool the contents of the container at any desired time includes a reservoir containing pressurized fluid. The reservoir is secured to the inside of the container to form an expansion chamber between the reservoir and the container. A tube communicates with the reservoir and extends into the expansion chamber, the tube normally being closed to prevent escape of pressurized fluid from the reservoir. When it is desired to cool the contents of the container the tube is opened so that pressurized fluid from the reservoir expands into the expansion chamber thereby cooling the expansion chamber, reservoir, and contents of the container. Embodiments of the device shown specifically are adapted to be used with commonly used "poptop" beverage cans and in such instance the tube extends to securement with the tab used to operate the "pop-top" or with a separate tab, and operation of the tab causes opening of the tube in the expansion chamber. The device may be secured to the end of the normal "pop-top" can and the reservoir is generally conical in configuration, so can easily be inserted into the filled beverage can by high speed canning equipment as the end is placed on the can and sealed. A further embodiment of the device is shown specifically adapted for use and resue in an insulated food containter.

    Abstract: Beverage brewing and/or warming systems benefit from water treatment and, in some cases, the elimination or reduction of the amount of AC heat heretofore provided for such devices. Water treatment is provided in the present invention by using magnetic treatment or electromagnetic treatment by direct injection in the fluid stream or a combination of such water treatment systems. Treatment preferably occurs prior to mixing of the heated brewing fluid and the beverage powder, but improved brewing also results from treatment at the discharge side of the brewing container, e.g. the discharge of a filter holder. Improved taste and a reduction in the amount of coffee used to obtain a desired taste level results from such treatment, and the holding qualities are also improved. The bitter taste resulting from extend holding periods can be minimized or eliminated. Magnetic treatment may employ a multi magnet concept to create sharp field boundaries, or other magnetic water treatment devices. Fluid or DC resistance heating may be used to eliminate the undesirable effects of AC current on the brewed beverage, and holding qualities may be improved still further by embedding a magnetic treater in a pot warming device.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for altering the charge distribution upon living membranes with functional stabilization of the membrane physical electrical integrity further comprising a method for using submicroscopic, quadripolar, circular, center charged, energy balanced magnetic device in a four (4) magnet array of alternating polarity in which the magnetic poles are separated only by a distance which will allow a magnetic sphere of influence on all adjacent poles to suppress the firing of action potentials of mammalian sensory neurons. The method and apparatus further provides a static magnetic device for production of a magnetic field for treatment of various disorders. Further there is provided a static magnetic device for production of a magnetic field for treatment of disorders wherein the device provides a static magnetic pole of like polarity on the outer surface of the flux focusing ring adjacent to each of the 4 poles of the invention (focusing magnet) such that the end or top of the focusing magnet is oriented to the geometric side of the pole such that the axis of the two magnets form a 45 to 90 degree angle.
