Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spectrophotometer capable of switching from a double beam system to a single beam system and obtaining measurement data by the single beam system in an optimum state. SOLUTION: In the double beam system, light from a light source 1 is passed through a chopper 2, then made monochromatic by a spectroscope 4, and alternately divided to a sample cell 12 and a reference cell 13 by a sector mirror 6. The output of a detector 18 is amplified by an amplifier 19, computed at a CPU 20, and stored. In the single beam system, the sector mirror is halted so that the light may become incident only onto the sample cell. In this state, base line correction is first performed. The intensity of light from the sample cell is measured for every wavelength by the detector. At this time, the amplification factor of the amplifier is changed so that output at each wavelength may become approximately constant. Then a sample is inserted in the sample cell, the output at each wavelength is amplified at the amplification factor at the execution of base line correction, computed at the CPU, and outputted.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure reflectance with one apparatus in any one of upper, lower or side installation by making a reference board and a spectroscopic system rotatable around a horizontal axis between a first measuring position where the reference board becomes horizontal on the upper side of the spectroscopic system and a second measuring position where the reference board comes on the underside of the spectroscopic system. CONSTITUTION:Monochromic light projected from a fixed section 11 is deflected by 90 deg. through a reflector 25 and focused through a lens 26 onto a reference surface 13. At a first measuring position, a sample 29 is placed on the reference surface 13 of a rotary section 12 with the measuring surface directing downward. Consequently, the monochromic incident light is projected accurately with zero incident angle (normal to the measuring surface) onto the measuring surface of the sample 29. Light reflected obliquely with an angle of 45 deg. on the surface of the sample is detected through a detector 27 for measurement and the intensity thereof is measured. Thus measured intensity is then compared with an intensity detected through a monitoring detector 24 at the fixed section 11, and the reflectance of the monochromic light is measured based on the ratio of the intensity.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable automatic adjustment and to obtain high wavelength accuracy by using a harmonic driving mechanism as a speed reducing mechanism which transmits the rotation of a driving motor to a diffraction grating and correcting the error of the driving mechanism by using a stored parameter. CONSTITUTION:The harmonic driving mechanism is provided as the speed reducing mechanism between the driving motor 12 and diffraction grating 1. When the feed angle per pulse of a stepping motor 1 as the driving motor and the speed reduction ratio of the harmonic driving mechanism are considered, its output rotation angle has a deviation. The quantity of the deviation generates an error periodically because of the principle of the harmonic driving mechanism and a measurement result. For the purpose, the error is corrected according to an error shape of one cycle to obtain an accurate wavelength output. For the purpose, a parameter storage means 15 is stored with a parameter showing the error shape and a wavelength arithmetic means 16 corrects the error according to the parameter.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform accurate measurement while shortening the time required in the measurement of a spectrum, by once stopping wavelength scanning at a wavelength performing quantification or performing wavelength scanning at a low speed within a wavelength range containing the wavelength performing quantification to collect spectrum data. CONSTITUTION:A wavelength scanning condition is set to a control part 5 to control the wavelength scanning of a spectroscope part 2 and spectrum data is collected by a spectrophotometer. At first, a wavelength scanning mode is selected. In a mode 1, usual measurement is performed and wavelength scanning is performed at a constant speed within a wavelength range other than the change-over of a stray light cutting filter and that of a light source. In a mode 2, wavelength scanning is performed at a constant speed from the start to the first indicated wavelength and once stopped at the indicated wavelength and data is collected after a photometric value becomes stable. Thereafter, in a mode 3, when the indicated wavelength is employed, wavelength scanning is performed at a low speed to collect data. By this method, accurate quantitative analysis is performed without making a collection time long and the analytical result can be stored in a memory medium part 6.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To determine concn. even if said concn. is off the concn. range of a standard sample by using a calibration curve which is the quadratic expression of concn. so that the determined value of concn. agrees well with the actual value. CONSTITUTION:The absorbancies of the standard sample and the sample to be measured are first measured. The calibration curve is formed from the respective absorbancies for the standard sample of >=2 different concns. obtd. in such a manner. The calibration curve is applied to the absorbancy of the sample to be measured obtd. in such a manner and the root is determined by a root calculating means. The concn. of the sample to be measured is determined when this root is calculated. Whether the two roots are within the range of the sample concn. relating to the formation of the calibration curve or not is discriminated respectively by a discriminating means when the two roots are calculated by the root calculating means. The smaller root is determined as the concn. of the sample to be measured when both the roots are decided by the discriminating means as to be within the range of the sample concn. The one root is determined as the concn. of the sample to be measured when only one root is decided to be within said range. The root nearer the range of the sample concn. is determined as the concn. of the sample to be measured when both the two roots are decided to be not within the range of the sample concn.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To record data which is obtained by taking a measurement for an undetermined long time and also display it on a CRT more effectively by switching and increasing the expected measurement time automatically. CONSTITUTION:A sampling interval is set to T from the start of measurement to a base time T and stored in a memory, and an X-axial scale is determined and displayed so that the base time T has the maximum width of the X axis on the display screen. When the measuring operation is performed continuously, the expected time T1 obtained by increasing the base time T by N times is set and the sampling interval is set to N T; and every (N)th data is extracted from data which are already stored, compressed, and restored in the memory. In this state, the measuring operation is carried on and data is displayed while a time scale is compressed so that the overall length of the X axis on the screen corresponds to T1=NT. Then, the expected time is extended to T2=N'T1 according to the continuation of the measurement to increase the sampling interval to N.N T, and the stored data are thinned out, compressed, and re-stored; and the operation for compressing the X-axial scale on the CRT screen is repeated to perform more effective recording and display operation.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enlarge diversity of data processing, by consecutive switching of a wave length of a photometer one by one corresponding to the set wave length every time when starting of measurement is commanded, and allowing practical program of various calculating formulae for data processing to be selected. CONSTITUTION:A spectroscopic photometer is composed of the photometer 1, calculating control apparatus 2 and displaying apparatus 3. The apparatus 2, other than performing wave length driving of the spectroscopic photometer, sampling of measured data, output and input operations out of and into a memory of the sampling data, output operation of the processed data to the apparatus 3, Setting of a plurality of measuring wave length and setting of coefficients for calculation are available and several programs of calculating formulae are given, while a practiceable calculation can be designated by a code indicating kinds of calculation. After initial designation of a calculating formula, a setting of measuring wave length, setting of necessary coefficients necessary for calculations and setting of a specimen by manual operations, measurement can be executed by pressing a key for command of operation starting. Thus, diversity of data processing can be enlarged.
