    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a fluorescent screen forming method by an electrodeposition method by which a phosphor film having a uniform film thickness can be formed by the electrodeposition method in a field emission type cathode and sticking of phosphor to an ineffective image screen part outside of a fluorecent screen part can be eliminated. CONSTITUTION:In an electrodeposition method, a guard electrode 3 is arranged around (in an ineffective image screen part) of a prescribed electrode (an electrode pattern formed in an effective image screen part) 1, and inverse bias voltage to electrode voltage for electrodeposition is impressed on the guard electrode 3 in electrodeposition liquid 12G (12B, 12R and 12M) in an electrodeposition tank 11. An electric field in the vicinity of an end part of an effective image screen electrode part can be controlled by this voltage control, and as a result, a phosphor sticking quantity inside of an effective image screen electrode can be controlled while including an effective image screen electrode end part. Thereby, a phosphor film having a uniform film thickness can be formed on a fluorescent screen forming panel surface on the prescribed electrode 1, and sticking of phosphor to the outside of a fluorescent screen part can be eliminated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject screen improved both in luminance saturation characteristics and in control of the deterioration of luminance by forming a blue phosphor layer comprising a mixture of a specified zinc sulfide phosphor with a specified yttrium silicate phosphor on the inside of the face plate of a cathode ray tube. CONSTITUTION:A blue phosphor layer comprising a mixture of a zinc sulfide phosphor (A) activated with at least one of copper, gold, and silver and containing a halogen element or aluminum as the coactivator, and an yttrium silicate phosphor (B) activated with at least one of cerium and gadolinium is formed on the inside of the face plate of a cathode ray tube to give the subject screen improved both in luminance saturation characteristics and in control of the deterioration of luminance.
