    Abstract: Within a wireless network, feedback information from user equipment (UE) to a control node (eNodeB) is necessary to support various functions. A UE receives an allocation from the eNodeB comprising a plurality of periodic transmission instances for a channel quality indicator (CQI) and a schedule comprising a plurality of periodic transmission instances for a rank indicator (RI), wherein the CQI comprises RI and other CQI fields. The UE then transmits an RI without transmitting the other CQI fields in a transmission instance allocated for both RI and other CQI fields.

    Abstract: A system and method for providing both localized and distributed transmission modes for EPDCCH is disclosed, where one EPDCCH comprises of one or multiple CCEs. Localized versus distributed transmission may be defined in terms of the EPDCCH to CCE resource mapping. In a localized transmission CCEs are restricted to be contained within one PRB. In a distributed transmission a CCE spans over multiple PRBs. A UE can be configured to either receive the EPDCCH only in localized or only in distributed transmissions. A UE can also be configured to expect EPDCCH transmissions in both localized and distributed transmissions. In each PRB configured by the higher layer as an EPDCCH resource, 24 REs that may be used for any DMRS transmission are always reserved and not used for EPDCCH transmission.

    Abstract: Single user and multiuser MIMO transmission in a cellular network may be performed by a base station (eNB) transmitting either one or two transmission layers. A user equipment (UE) receives a reference symbol from the base station. The UE processes the reference symbol with one or more of a plurality of preceding matrices to form a plurality of channel quality indices (CQI). The UE provides feedback to the eNB comprising one or more feedback CQI selected from the plurality of CQI and one or more preceding matrix indicators (PMI) identifying the one or more preceding matrices used to form each of the one or more feedback CQIs, wherein at least two PMI are included in the feedback.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus of wireless communication between a base station and at least one user equipment. The method includes: transmitting an enhanced physical downlink control channel from the base station to the at least one user equipment using a demodulation reference signal antenna port; transmitting message from the base station to the at least one user equipment which is scheduled by the enhanced physical downlink control channel; receiving the message at the at least one user equipment; determining at the at least one user equipment whether the message was correctly received; and transmitting an ACK/NAK signal on an ACK/NAK resource determined from the enhanced physical downlink control channel from the at least one user equipment to the base station indicating whether the message was correctly received by the at least one user.

    Abstract: Channel state information (CSI) feedback in a wireless communication system is disclosed. A precoding matrix is generated for multi-antenna transmission based on precoding matrix indicator (PMI) feedback, wherein the PMI indicates a choice of precoding matrix derived from a matrix multiplication of two matrices from a first codebook and a second codebook. In one embodiment, the first codebook comprises at least a first precoding matrix constructed with a first group of adjacent Discrete-Fourier-Transform (DFT) vectors. In another embodiment, the first codebook comprises at least a second precoding matrix constructed with a second group of uniformly distributed non-adjacent DFT vectors. In yet another embodiment, the first codebook comprises at least a first precoding matrix and a second precoding matrix, where said first precoding matrix is constructed with a first group of adjacent DFT vectors, and said second precoding matrix is constructed with a second group of uniformly distributed non-adjacent DFT vectors.

    Abstract: A transmitter is for use with multiple transmit antennas and includes a precoder unit configured to precode data for a transmission using a precoding matrix selected from a codebook, wherein the codebook corresponds to the following three transmission properties for an uplink transmission: 1) all precoding elements from the precoding matrix have a same magnitude, 2) each precoding element from the precoding matrix is taken from a set of finite values and 3) there is only one non-zero element in any row of the precoding matrix. The transmitter also includes a transmit unit configured to transmit the precoded data.
