SOLUTION: An imaging system 100 comprises a paper handling surface 110 having an uneven mark 250 intersecting the axis and moving a paper 120 in a direction substantially parallel with the axis, a carriage 130 mounted slidably on the paper handling surface 110 and adapted to contain a printer 140 sliding in a direction substantially orthogonal to the axis and parallel with the paper handling surface 110, and an optical sensor 200 arranged to be disposed in the axial direction during movement of the paper handling surface 110 and to detect movement of the paper handling surface 110 relative to the carriage 130 by monitoring the mark 250.
