Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an image to an optical disk with a simple configuration in a relatively short time. SOLUTION: The optical disk system 100 records or reproduces data by irradiating the recording surface of a rotating optical disk 200 with a laser beam by an optical pickup 120. The optical disk system 100 is further equipped with an irradiation unit 170 which irradiates a heat sensitive layer disposed on the label surface on the side opposite of the recording surface of the optical disk 200 with appropriately parallel beams modulated by image data for regulating the density of the image to be formed, a stepping motor 178 for moving the irradiation unit 170 in the radial direction of the optical disk 200 and a power control circuit 164 which controls the intensity of the appropriately parallel beams by the irradiation unit 170 so as to be made approximately constant with respect to the linear velocity at the irradiation point. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly form a visible image on an optical disk without making a circuit scale larger and wiring more complicated. SOLUTION: An optical disk recorder emits a laser beam to the optical disk to form a pit of a length designated by first record data (EFM modulation data, etc.,) to form visible images on the optical disk. Dummy data whose data format is the same as that of the first data is prepared in advance, and a portion of the dummy data is substituted for data for forming a visible image to generate second record data. The data for forming the visible image in the second record data are extracted, and a pit of a length designated by the extracted data for forming the visible image is formed to thereby prepare the visible image. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly detect whether the label surface of an optical disk 200 faces a pickup or not. SOLUTION: When a regular S curve appears in the waveform of a focal error signal Fe, which appears when an objective lens 114 swing up and down, an S curve discriminating part 164 discriminates that a recording surface faces a pickup 100 and, on the other hand, when the waveform Fe of the focal error signal Fe is distorted and also two large and small curves appear in the waveform Fe, the part 164 discriminates that the label surface faces the pickup 100. A signal indicating this discriminated result is supplied to a control part which controls respective parts of an optical disk device. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform an image drawing having high designing characteristics (having a hologram vision effect) to an optical disk. SOLUTION: Laser information showing an irradiation interval and an irradiation level of a laser beam with which an optical disk is to be irradiated is previously prepared. When a pit forming interval is designated and instruction for image drawing is given, the laser beam is controlled so as to have the irradiation interval and the irradiation level corresponding to the pit forming interval and shown by the laser information to form a pit in the optical disk. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a focus servo control from being obstructed by an optical disk device when reading bar codes. SOLUTION: Bar codes 30 are provided within a movable range of an optical pickup out of planes of an optical disk, that is, a range in which laser irradiation can be performed by an optical disk device. Further, such coding is used that arranging bars continuously is prohibited as coding of data recorded as the bar code 30. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk recorder in which a visual image is formed regardless of the condition of data recording. SOLUTION: An optical pickup is provided to either record the data recording by illuminating an optical disk, on which a guiding groove having a thermal interference (thermal dicoloration) characteristic is formed in a spiral with a laser light beam along the groove and forming pits to express a data length, or to form a visible image by discoloring a portion of the disk. The illuminating position of the laser light beams is controlled so that the data recording is conducted from the inner peripheral side of the disk and the visual image forming is conducted from the outer peripheral side of the disk. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk recorder by which the image having the uniform density almost over the whole area of the optical disk is formed even in the state that the revolving speed of a stepping motor and a laser power are controlled to be constant. SOLUTION: When the image having the uniform density almost over the whole area of the optical disk 200 is formed, the revolving speed of a spindle motor 130 is controlled to be constant by a servo circuit 138, meanwhile, the current value of a driving signal Li is controlled by an ALPC circuit 162 so that the laser power becomes constant. In such a case, the moving amount of an optical pickup 100 is made large at the inner peripheral side where the line width of the image is widened, by a main control part 170, while the moving amount of the optical pickup 100 is made smaller at the outer peripheral side where the line width is narrowed. Then, the instruction to move the optical pickup 100 in the moving amount decided based on the setting is given to a motor driver 142 by the main control part 170. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
