    Abstract: A method of forming a hand tool by providing a mold having at least two sections injecting a material for forming the hand tool into the mold, and forming a sharpened edge surface on the hand tool along a surface formed by the parting line of the mold. The hand tool may be a dental tool having a working surface for contacting a patient's teeth. The working surface is formed of a substantially a flat curved section extending from a distal end of the dental tool. The distal end of the curved section having a facet extending substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the dental tool and having a sharpened surface formed on a proximal edge surface of the facet.

    Abstract: A self-locking orthodontic bracket includes a supporting base (10) and transversely spaced tying lugs (12) interrupted by a transverse archwire slot (18, 20). A closure mounted on the bracket includes a movable cover (21, 50) slidably overlapping an anterior surface (17) across the bracket. The closure is supported by sliding guides (30, 22) that engage opposed side surfaces (15 or 16) of the tying lugs (12). A transverse flat spring (28) is recessed within the fixed wall to selectively engage indented areas (33) on the posterior surface of the cover (21, 50) and serves as a detent. The detent selectively positions the cover (21, 50) in an open or closed position relative to the archwire slot (18, 20).

    Abstract: A gingival pocket measurement device for facile and accurate measurement of a depth of a gingival pocket includes a rod, which in turn comprises first and second segments that extend from first and second ends of the rod, respectively. The second segment is tapered between the second end and a junction of the first and second segments so that the second end is circumferentially smaller than the junction. The bands of a plurality of bands are attached to the second segment at 1.0 mm increments from the second end. Each band extends circumferentially around the rod and has a respective color so that the plurality of bands comprises bands of variety of colors. The first end is selectively attachable to an elongate shaft, enabling a user to insert the rod into a gingival pocket to measure its depth by observing a respective band that is not covered by a gum.

    Abstract: A method including fixing a dental drill template with a fixation pin including a rod and a head attached to the rod. The dental drill template can be fixed by inserting the rod into the drill template or a sleeve provided in the drill template such that a bearing surface of the head bears at least partially on the drill template. The rod has a shape of an essentially circular cylinder and extends from the bearing surface of the head at an essentially right angle. A diameter of the head at the bearing surface is larger than the diameter of the rod.
