Abstract:
A cold spray apparatus having a powder preheating device, capable of obtaining high deposition rate and excellent coating layer under the same spray processing conditions by preheating coating powder before a coating process. Also, a manufacturing method of nano-structured super-high hardness WC—Co coating having high abrasive wear resistance and fracture toughness obtained by spraying WC—Co powder using the cold spray apparatus. In the cold spray apparatus, a gas controller controls gas supply amount of main gas and residual gas (gas that is not supplied toward the main gas), and a gas heater heats the main gas supplied under the control of the gas controller. A powder feeder receives the residual gas under the control of the gas controller and supplies a coating powder together with the residual gas. A powder preheating device preheats the coating powder supplied from the powder feeder, and a mixing chamber mixes the heated main gas with the preheated coating powder. A temperature controller adjusts temperature by controlling the powder preheating device and the gas heater, and the coating powder mixed in the mixing chamber is sprayed through a nozzle.

A manifold for distributing liquid and process air to at least one dispensing module including a manifold body adapted to overlie at least a portion of a substrate. The manifold body includes a front surface having a liquid outlet vertically spaced above a process air outlet. The front surface of the manifold body is configured to carry at least one dispensing module having a liquid inlet and a process air inlet in communication with the liquid outlet and process air outlet in the manifold body. A groove is formed in the front surface of the manifold body between the liquid outlet and process air outlet and adapted to collect any liquid dripping from the liquid outlet toward the process air outlet when the dispensing module is removed from the manifold body thereby preventing the liquid from reaching the process air outlet.

An improved combustion-type fogging apparatus and process for applying herbicides, insecticides and the like, as an aerosol is disclosed herein. The apparatus includes an improved combustion chamber with counter-current flow of combustion and supplemental air along with a stator at the downstream portion of the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber also has a hydrocarbon fuel burner to produce hot gases which along with the combustion air and supplemental air forms a hot gas flow into an aerosol chamber wherein a liquid or molten material is introduced for the purpose of being converted into a stable aerosol or fog for introduction into a storage facility or for other purposes of applying an aerosol of an insecticide, herbicide or other liquid or molten material.

[Also in Groups XI, XIII and XXVIII] A flexible hose has electric heater means consisting of metallic braiding which forms part of the structure of the hose. In Figs. 1 and 2, a hose connecting a container 1 to a spray gun 6 incorporates two coaxial sleeves of braided electrical resistance metal 7, 8 insulated from each other. The ends of the sleeves adjacent the container are connected to a transformer low voltage secondary winding 10a which may have its mid-point earthed, and the other sleeve ends are electrically connected by clips 7a, 8a and a strap 9. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 3 a hose for carrying the spraying substance is provided with a single braided heater sleeve 14 and the air supply hose 16 has a similar sleeve 17, connection between the sleeve ends remote from a transformer 15 being via the gun 6. In each construction, the substance to be sprayed, which may be viscous or solid at ambient temperature, is pre-heated by a heater 2 surrounding the container 1. The compressed air may be pre-heated before passing through the hose 16 of the Fig. 3 construction. The hose may be of rubber or polyvinyl chloride. Specification 713,653, [Group XI], is referred to.

The invention concerns a spraying device comprising: a tubular base (28) open at its two ends; a reservoir of solution (17), a supply duct (29) starting from the reservoir and reaching up to the lower part of the nozzle, and a duct (30) of compressed carrier gas, in particular of compressed air, emerging into the nozzle in the proximity of the supply duct (29). The invention is useful for bactericidal treatment of bird carcasses (2) with a trisodium phosphate solution.
