Abstract:
Technologies are generally described to increase a surface smoothness of a 3D printed article implementing a water-based treatment using layer by layer (LBL) deposition. An initial 3D printed article having an anionic surface may be treated with a first aqueous solution comprising at least one polycation that may bind to the anionic surface to produce a first treated surface, which may be rinsed with water to remove the first aqueous solution. The first treated surface may be treated with a second aqueous solution comprising at least one anionic microparticle that may bind to the polycation to produce a final 3D printed article having a second treated surface, which may be rinsed with water to remove the second aqueous solution. The bound polycation and anionic microparticle may be present as a single layer in the final 3D printed article that may act as a conformal coating to increase the surface smoothness.

In a method for forming an adhesive layer on the surface of a workpiece before the formation of a coating film containing a powder on the workpiece, the present invention provides a method for forming the adhesive layer having a desired thickness. This object is achieved by the following method: An adhesive layer formation medium m1 coated with an adhesive material is made to collide with a workpiece W so that the adhesive material is transferred from the adhesive layer formation medium m1 to the workpiece W and forms an adhesive layer on the workpiece. An adhesive layer having a desired thickness can be formed on the workpiece by regulating the thickness of the adhesive material applied to the surface of the adhesive layer formation medium (i.e. the amount of the adhesive material held by a single adhesive layer formation medium). This enables the thickness of the powder coating as the final product to be controlled as desired.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a tacky adhesive layer on the surface of a treating object as a step for forming a powder-coating film. SOLUTION: A medium m1 coated with an adhesive material for forming an adhesive layer is forced to collide with a treating object W to transfer the adhesive material from the adhesive layer forming medium to the treating object and form an adhesive layer on the object. The thickness of the adhesive layer formed on the treating object can be adjusted to a desired level by adjusting the thickness of the adhesive material applied to the adhesive layer forming medium (amount of the adhesive material held by one adhesive layer forming medium). Accordingly, the thickness of the powder-coating layer formed on the surface of the treating object by the subsequent step to form a powder-coating film can be adjusted to a desired level. Die Vorrichtung weist ferner eine Transporteinrichtung (3) auf, die die zu beschichtende Oberfläche des Gutes (4) mit der Flüssigkeit in Kontakt zu bringen und an der Flüssigkeit vorbeizuführen, so dass die zu beschichtende Oberfläche für eine bestimmte Zeit mit der Flüssigkeit in Kontakt bleibt, um eine Beschichtung derselben zu bewirken.
