Abstract:
The invention relates to an arrangement at the discharge end of a debarking mechanism (12), said debarking mechanism (1) being intended for the decortication or pretreatment of trees (2) for separately performed final barking and for the expulsion of at least some of the removed barks from a wood flow passing through the debarking mechanism, said debarking mechanism comprising a number of rotatable debarking shafts (3) extending parallel to an advancing direction (A) of the trees (2) to be fed therethrough and provided with a number of teeth (4) extending beyond the circumferential surface of the shaft and adapted to strip bark off the presently processed trees transversely to the lengthwise direction of the trees (2) and at the same to convey the tree transversely relative to said shafts (3), and said shafts (3), together with the teeth (4) thereof, being adapted to constitute at least a part of a support surface, upon which the presently processed trees (2) travel through the debarking mechanism (1). The debarking mechanism (1) has its discharge side provided with an extension (5), continuing from the lower section level of the support surface of the debarking mechanism used for bearing the trees (2), and guiding the trees (2) discharging out of the debarking mechanism (1).

The teeth (4) are designed to be effective in both rotating directions of said rotatable debarking shafts (3), and the debarking shafts (3) are designed to be pivotable.
Abstract:
A rotary log debarker comprising a container. The container comprises a bottom part, two opposed longitudinal walls extending upward from the bottom part, one end wall, and a chute. The bottom part comprises rotors being drivable by a power source. The rotors comprise a plurality of debarking plates. The debarking plates comprise an abrasive surface. The rotary log debarker is characterized in that it is provided with a tilting system for adjustable tilting of the container about a pivot point.
Abstract:
A debarking mechanism including of rotatable debarking shafts extending parallel to an advancing direction (A) of the logs to be fed therethrough, which are provided with teeth extending beyond the circumferential surface of the shaft. At least the uppermost debarking shaft is moved sideways towards the inner part of the debarking mechanism in such a way that each debarking shaft directs an impact effect on logs colliding with it and moved by the debarking shafts located in a lower position. The circumferential speed of the debarking shaft is selected to be the greater the higher the debarking shaft is positioned. A free passage is arranged for the bark passing over the debarking shaft.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a debarking mechanism (1) for the decortication or pretreatment of logs (2) for separately performed final debarking and for the discharge of at least some of the bark removed from a wood stream passing through the debarking mechanism, the said debarking mechanism comprising a number of rotatable debarking shafts (3, 3′) extending parallel to an advancing direction (A) of the logs (2) to be fed therethrough, which are provided with a number of teeth (4) extending beyond the circumferential surface of the shaft (3, 3′). The debarking shafts (3, 3′) are arranged relative to each other in such a way that the logs (2) being processed perform a rotary motion (C) in the debarking mechanism, in which motion the logs (2) are forced in their turn, by the effect of the rotary motion (5) of the debarking shafts (3, 3′), into the upper position, from which they roll down into the lower position on top of the other logs (2) in the debarking machine (1). At least the uppermost debarking shaft (3′), is moved sideways towards the inner part (6) of the debarking mechanism (1) in such a way that the said debarking shaft directs an impact effect on logs (2) colliding with it and moved by the debarking shafts (3) located in a lower position, due to the effect of which the direction of movement of the logs (2) having collided with the said debarking shaft will change in such a way that when dividing the movement into a horizontal and a vertical component, the horizontal component of the movement will point towards the inner part (6) of the debarking mechanism (1). The circumferential speed of the debarking shaft is selected to be the greater the higher the debarking shaft (3, 3′) is positioned. A free passage (7) is arranged for the bark passing over the debarking shaft (3′).
Abstract:
An apparatus for removing the bark of whole, or tree-length, logs has an open frame with a feed end, a discharge end, a base and two generally sloping sides, and a plurality of spaced-apart conveyor assemblies positioned along one side of the frame, each conveyor assembly having a plurality of lifters moving in channels. The lifters simultaneously lift the whole logs while advancing the logs incrementally toward the discharge end of the frame, then release the whole logs to fall onto the rest of the logs. The whole logs are maintained in continuous rolling, tumbling, abrading contact to remove the bark without damaging the underlying wood. The apparatus may be supplied with a canopy for use in winter and/or in cold climates in trapping heat of warm water or steam sprayed onto the logs to thaw them. The apparatus may be assembled from trailer-transportable modular units.
Abstract:
Apparatus for delimbing and barking trees or tree parts comprising a downwardly tapering trough for receiving the trees or tree parts, the trough having a generally horizontal axis and having one side formed by an upwardly and outwardly inclined endless conveyor which includes drivers projecting therefrom for circulating the trees or tree parts in the trough and for transporting wood upwardly; at least one elongated delimbing roll arranged parallel to the axis of the trough at the bottom thereof, the roll being adjacent the lower end of the conveyor and rotatable in a direction such that its upper surface rotates toward the conveyor; and at least one elongated barking roll arranged in side-by-side parallel relationship to the delimbing roll on the side thereof opposite the conveyor and rotatable in a direction such that its uper surface rotates toward the delimbing roll, the barking roll having longitudinally extending planar peripheral ribs for orienting the stems of the trees or tree parts into parallelism with the barking and delimbing rolls.
