Abstract:
The invention relates to a convertible vehicle (1) comprising a displaceable roof (2) that can be opened as a whole in relation to its opening. Said displaceable roof (2) comprises a sunroof (4) that can be displaced in relation to a surrounding roof part (5) when the roof is in the closed position. Said convertible vehicle is configured in such a manner that it is possible to directly open the roof from a closed position when the roof part (4) is open as well as from a closed position when the roof part (4) is closed.
Abstract:
A retractable hardtop assembly is provided for a vehicle. A retractable hardtop assembly includes a front section that is connected by a linkage to a vehicle and a rearward portion that is connected by a separate linkage to a decklid of the vehicle. A package shelf/tonneau is secured by a linkage to the back section of the linkage. The package shelf/tonneau is moved from a package/shelf position below the rearward portion of the roof to a tonneau position above the retractable roof when the retractable roof is disposed in the storage compartment. The package shelf/tonneau is moved between the front portion of the roof and rearward portion of the roof during the extension and retraction cycles. The package shelf/tonneau may be rotated 360° as it is moved between the package shelf and tonneau positions.
Abstract:
An automotive vehicle employs a convertible roof system. The convertible roof system can include a roof cover and a top stack mechanism operable between raised and stowed positions. At least one roof bow can move between first and second positions relative to a forwardmost roof rail.
Abstract:
A retractable vehicle roof system for a vehicle having a rearward storage space includes a roof portion movable between a closed position and an open position. The roof portion is located above a body of the vehicle and proximate the rearward storage space when in the closed position. A lid is located above the rearward storage space when the roof portion is in the closed position. The lid is configured to descend into the storage space as the roof portion moves to the open position above the lid while substantially preserving a side profile of the vehicle and permitting storage space access. The roof portion is located above the lid when the roof portion is in the open position. A glide control arrangement is operatively connected to the lid and configured to direct motion of the lid when the roof portion moves between the open and closed positions.
Abstract:
A pair of side linkages for raising a convertible top between a raised position, covering the vehicle body passenger compartment, through a body opening, and a lowered position folded into a storage compartment within the vehicle body, said top including a header for engaging the vehicle windshield in the top raised position and at least one crossbow extending between the side linkages, each linkage comprising side rails pivoted to and extending rearwardly from the header, and a plurality of links forming 4-bar linkages connecting the header, side rails and vehicle body for folding the top in a Z-shaped folding action to a compact shape in the storage compartment such that the header is not inverted and covers the folded top and closes the body opening.
Abstract:
In accordance with one preferred embodiment of the present invention, a retractable roof apparatus for a hard top vehicle is disclosed. The apparatus includes a roof portion that resides above a vehicle body forward a rear storage space when closed. Additionally, the storage space includes a lid that is configured to descend into the storage space as the roof portion moves to an open position, resting above the lid. Lastly, the open position preserves the vehicle side profile and permits storage space access. Further provided is a method of retracting a rigid vehicle roof.
Abstract:
A convertible vehicle having a long roof is provided which includes first through third roofs, supported by the vehicle body, movable between a use position at which the roofs cover the upper part of a vehicle interior R and a non-use position at which the roofs are held in a housing unit to the rear of a body so that the upper part of the vehicle interior R is open. A rear door is supported by the body so as to rotatably open and close between a closed position and an open position further to the rear of the closed position, wherein when the first through third roofs are in non-use position, the roofs are accommodated in the housing unit, piled up one top of the other in the vertical direction.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a folding top for a cabriolet vehicle, comprising a first roof part (1) which is embodied as a rigid shell element, a second roof part (2) which is embodied as a rigid shell element, and a forced control unit (4). The first roof part (1) and the second roof part (2) are pivotable relative to a body (3) of the vehicle, are driven by a common force-introducing unit (5), and are movable by means of the forced control unit (4). The aim of the invention is to create a folding top in which the flexibility of the force-controlled movement of roof parts towards each other is improved. Said aim is achieved by providing the forced control unit (4) with a mechanical control device (6), by means of which movement of the second roof part (2) can be delayed from movement of the first roof part (1).
Abstract:
A motor vehicle has a folding roof which can be opened and lowered into a rear storage space. Partitioning of the rear storage space into a folding-top space and a residual luggage space is provided by a separating arrangement which includes a dimensionally stable covering element that can be shifted vertically from a use position into a non-use position when the folding top is stored. The covering element extends over a rear sub-length of the separating arrangement and can be displaced forwards into the non-use position shortening the length of the separating arrangement.
Abstract:
In a hardtop vehicle roof, which includes a front roof element and a rear roof element comprising side support members and a rear window panel, the front roof element is supported so as to be independently movable from the closed position to a storage position in a storage compartment disposed behind the vehicle roof so as to provide for the vehicle a Targa configuration, the rear window panel is independently movable into the storage compartment to provide for a Landau configuration and the front window is deposited in the storage compartment below the rear window panel while the side support members are retracted into side storage spaces to provide for a cabriolet configuration of the vehicle.
