A seat assembly for a vehicle includes a lower seat portion and a seatback portion. The seatback portion is selectively movable to vary the reclination angle of the seatback portion. The seat assembly is configured so that a first part of the lower seat portion rises relative to a second part of the lower seat portion so that the lower seat portion acts as an occupant restraint when a predetermined condition exists. Exemplary predetermined conditions include the reclination angle changing, the reclination angle exceeding a predetermined amount, and conditions indicative of an elevated risk of vehicle impact.

Es wird eine Vorrichtung zur Einstellung von Sitzkomponenten (100 bis 104) in Abhängigkeit von einem Signal einer Videosensorik vorgeschlagen. Zusätzlich wird in Abhängigkeit von dem Signal auch ein Sicherheitsgurt eingestellt. Diese Einstellung erfolgt in Abhängigkeit von der Insassenklasse, dem Insassenvolumen, der Insassenpose und der Kopfposition.

An apparatus for measuring the weight of an occupying item of a seat (1056) including a support structure (1058, 1060, 1062) for mounting the seat (1056) to a substrate. The apparatus includes a strain gage transducer (1065, 1066) mounted on the support structure (1058, 1060, 1062) and arranged to provide a measurement of the strain of the support structure (1058, 1060, 1062) at the location at which it is mounted. A control system (1030) is coupled to the strain gage transducer (1065, 1066) for determining the weight of the occupying item of the seat (1056) based on the strain of the support structure (1058, 1060, 1062) measured by the strain gage transducer (1065, 1066). The weight measuring apparatus is used in a seat adjustment apparatus for adjusting a seat (1) in a passenger compartment of a vehicle including wave sensors (11, 12, 13, 14) for transmitting waves into the passenger compartment toward the seat (1), receiving waves from the passenger compartment and generating an output representative of the waves received by the wave sensors (11, 12, 13, 14), and a processor (19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 28, 29) for receiving the outputs from the wave sensors (11, 12, 13, 14) and the weight measuring apparatus and evaluating the seated-state of the seat (1) based thereon. The processor, e.g., directs a control unit to cause a portion of the seat to move based on the evaluation of the seated-state of the seat or to affect the deployment of an airbag.

A seat belt assembly has an inertia reel belt (10) whose ends are anchored (5) low down to one side of a seat position and which can be pulled out to go over the seat occupant in two strands and be secured by an intermediate fitting (9), to an anchorage (6) at the other side. One strand will go over a shoulder, and to relieve the weight it is supported by a strap (13) which clips to another intermediate fitting (11). The strap may be adjustable in length, it may be formed into a loop for "strap-hanging" and its anchorage (14) may be adjustable in the fore and aft directions of the seats.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Führungsschiene (1, 2) für einen Gurthöhenversteller für einen Fahrzeugsicherheitsgurt, mit einem in Einbausolllage unteren Ende (3, 4), das an einem dazu vorgesehenen Bereich der Karosseriestruktur (5, 6) eines Fahrzeuges steckbefestigt ist, und einem oberen Ende (7, 8), das mittels eines Befestigungsmittels an der Karosseriestruktur (5, 6) befestigt ist, wobei die Führungsschiene (1, 2) an ihrem unteren Ende mindestens einen Schlitz (9, 10) aufweist und ein die Karosseriestruktur (5,6) bildendes Blechformteil mindestens ein Halteteil (13, 14) aufweist oder bildet, welches in Montagesolllage in den mindestens einen Schlitz (9, 10) eingreift und das untere Ende (3, 4) der Führungsschiene (1, 2) fixiert.

A guide loop height adjustment arrangement for a vehicle driver's seat belt comprises a drive means (3) operable to raise and lower a guide loop (2) having means (10, 11) operable to sense a change of position of a driver's mirror (8, 9). Such change is indicative of the presence of a seat occupant of different shoulder height from a preceding seat occupant and means (6) responsive thereto activates said drive means (3), to reposition said guide loop (2).
