Abstract:
A recoiling energy absorbing system has an upper impact surface that is exposed to percussive impact. An energy absorbing layer is positioned below or inside the upper impact surface. The energy absorbing layer includes one or more thermoformed energy absorbing modules. At least some of the modules are provided with one or more energy absorbing units that extend from an upper platform. Several of the energy absorbing units are provided with a flexible wall that extends from the upper platform. A lateral reinforcement member secures the energy absorbing units to prevent them from splaying. The energy absorbing units at least partially absorb energy generated by an impacting object due to the flexible wall bending inwardly or outwardly and recoiling nondestructively after single or multiple impacts to its un-deflected configuration.
Abstract:
A vehicle energy harvesting roadway is provided. The vehicle energy harvesting roadway includes a deformable driving surface that is longitudinally flexible and transversely stiff. The deformable driving surface is disposed between a passing vehicle and one or more transducers or one or more compressible hoses.
Abstract:
An interlocking floor tile assembly is provided, ft includes a first repeating array of spaced apart first tiles interconnected by first bridge portions wherein the first tiles and the first bridge portions define first spaces therebetween. It also includes a second repeating array of spaced apart second tiles interconnected by second bridge portions wherein the second tiles and the second bridge portions define second spaces therebetween. The second tiles are received in the first spaces and the first tiles are received in the second spaces. A shock attenuating tile may be provided in conjunction with the interlocking floor tile assembly to form a ground covering that is suitable for fail risk areas such as playgrounds. The shock attenuating tile preferably includes a plate having an upper side for bearing a load and a plurality of shock absorbing modules depending from an underside of the plate. Each of the shock absorbing modules is integrally formed with the plate.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A support layer for supporting an artificial turf assembly. The support layer being formed of a polymeric foam, preferably having a density of between 20 and 70 grams per liter, such as a polyolefin foam; and having an upper side and a lower side, wherein in use the support layer has been placed with the lower side thereof on a base surface and supports, on the upper side thereof, the artificial turf assembly, the support layer including a plurality of through drainage holes extending from the upper side to the lower side for allowing liquid such as rain water to flow via the plurality of drainage holes from the upper side to the lower side, and also including a plurality of channels at the lower side for allowing liquid such as rain water to flow through the channels along the lower side, wherein each of said plurality of drainage holes debouches into one of the plurality of channels. The support layer is further included in an artificial turf system, that includes an artificial turf assembly with the support layer supported on a base surface such as a layer of sand, wherein the support layer forms, at the upper sides thereof, a closed support surface supporting the artificial turf assembly.
Abstract:
A machine for resurface existing roads is disclosed. The machine may include a first group of sprayers configured to form a first layer of binding material, and a fiber material distribution component positioned adjacent the first group of sprayers. The fiber material distribution component may be configured to distribute fiber material onto the first layer of the binding material. The machine may also include a second group of sprayers positioned adjacent the fiber material distribution component. The second group of sprayers may be configured to form a second layer of the binding material over the distributed fiber material. Additionally, the machine may include a channel positioned adjacent the second group of sprayers. The channel may be configured to supply an asphalt mixture over the second layer of the binding material. Further, the machine may include a screed positioned adjacent the conduit, where the screed may be positioned to contact the asphalt mixture.
Abstract:
A paving system for paving or flooring includes a top layer of a plurality of paving elements, and an underlayment support layer of a polymeric material configured into panels. The panels are suitable to support the paving elements, the panels having a generally planar support surface.
