Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a metal blading sector for low-pressure guide vanes of a turbomachine of which at least one blade includes an internal cavity configured to accept or communicate with a gas detection probe and at least one hole formed in the wall constituting a passage for gas from a low-pressure zone of the turbomachine toward the cavity and the probe through the fitting, into a casting mold, of a core corresponding to the cavity and the casting of a molten metal in the cavity of the casting mold. The core includes, for each hole for communication with the cavity, a protrusion penetrating the internal surface of the mold and constituting the only element holding the core in position in the casting mold.

Abstract:
The present invention is an integral composite structural (ICS) material comprising an open metal structure having at least one external side and internal surfaces defining a plurality of open shapes with a ceramic matrix composite bonded to at least one external side and the surfaces of at least a substantial portion of the plurality of open shapes and occupying at least a substantial portion of the plurality of open shapes. The open metal structure, independent of the ceramic matrix composite, has a total metal volume percent in the range of about 10% to about 90%, with no dimension of any open shape being greater than about ¾ inch. The ceramic matrix layer covers a substantial portion of at least one external side of the open metal structure. At least one external side of the metal portion of the ICS material is bonded with a ceramic matrix composite such that the ceramic layer occupies at least a significant portion of the open pores of the metal portion and is bonded to a significant portion of at least one external side of the metal element. The present invention is also a method of manufacturing such an ICS material.

Abstract:
A heat dissipation fan includes a fan frame, a stator mounted to the frame, and a rotor rotatably disposed around the stator. The fan frame includes a bracket, a central tube for positioning the stator, and a supporting member. The supporting member is made of a material having a higher bending strength than a plastic material used to form the bracket and the central tube. The supporting member includes a main body connected to the central tube, a plurality of ribs extending radially outwardly from the main body, and a plurality of engaging units formed at free ends of the ribs, respectively. The engaging units are embedded in the bracket for integrally connecting the central tube to the bracket.
Abstract:
Engineered surface treatments are applied to different types of hydraulic motors and pumps to improve the life of the contacting surfaces in said motors and pumps. The engineered surface treatments are selected from texture modifications and tribiological coatings and selectively applied to one or both of the contacting surfaces to reduce friction and improve fatigue life under poor lubrication operating conditions.
Abstract:
A supercharger rotor with reduced rotational inertia may result in increased performance of a supercharger. The rotor may include composite material and may be extrusion molded, injection molded, or otherwise molded or laid-up. In certain embodiments, the rotor may include a core with a central portion and one or more radially extending portions. The core may be extruded or formed of stacked sheets. A molded portion of the rotor, including one or more lobes, may be molded over a corresponding one of the radially extending portions. In other embodiments, a main portion of the rotor includes one or more lobes but no central hole nor a corresponding shaft extending between ends of the main portion. Instead, stub shafts are attached to the ends of the main portion. The increased performance may include decreased noise, decreased cost, increased reliability and/or durability, increased thermal efficiency, an increased power-to-weight ratio, etc.
